I think he could do quite well as a number 6. His possession and distribution is good and when he makes a mistake which he's always prone to do it will be less critical if he's slightly further forward.
That was suggested years ago when he was being hyped up by the Dundee Utd sales team but he proved to be a massive failure there and looked like a central defender trying to be an awkward midfielder.

A decent striker does not need to take 5 or 6 touches, does not change feet 2 or 3 times until the ball is taken off him or he falls over.
Strangely, watched Memphis Depay score against Inter; ball comes to him, one touch and bang, goal. The first thing that came to mind was what Dessers would do given that chance and one touch and shoot never came into the equation. -
Deflated after this result and performance. There is not much between the teams but the difference was mainly pace, control fitness and goal threat. So many loose passes and poor decisions added to complete lack of a goal threat and players running on empty.
Once again Dessers showed nothing apart from confirming he has no clue about the offside rule. His weird decision to cut onto his left foot but shoot with his right almost made me choke.Lawrence showed this level is out of his experience and comfort zone with so many losses of possession and being caught on the ball. Ridvan and Silva were disappointing.
We had more possession but never looked like scoring while Benicia looked dangerous on the break because we gave them so much space to do so.
Without a goal threat in the front line and a midfield which has a poor oval retur rate we are constantly punching above our weight and results like tonight and Motherwell are going to happen. We cannot keep having to rely on a full back to scrape through games.

Let me think, what rhymes with Wright?

Need wright to step it up a level tonight.
Will still be a very very low level.

He has screwed up so many one on one chances, by cutting back on his left here he just made the angle almost impossible to score and made a near post save easy for the keeper. Other times he changes feet too often or takes too many touches and lets defenders take the ball away. He does not look like a guy lacking in confidence so I guess he is just not a natural striker.

The handball rule seems to be viewed differently in every league. Europe usually seems to give penalty for any hand ball in the box. Basically pundits, referees and players now have no idea how this rule is going to be applied and it boils down to whichever moron is operating VAR.

I have never seen a CB let balls go straight under his feet as much as he does. He was immense against us in the SC final where has that player gone?
The game where we had no striker but used the tactic of getting the ball wide to cross to 3 unchallenged central defenders? He has always had howlers in him but at Hearts he had 2 other centre defenders to cover but still was good for giving away chances every game.

From the start it looked that we would struggle and it showed the number of injuries will affect us in the next few weeks. I do not have confidence in our front line survivors to find the net it matters and we really have not seen anywhere near the number of goals both from midfield and central defenders from corners that should be expected from our team.
The balance and cohesion today looked off and Motherwell seemed to be able to pressure without much challenge. Upfront Dessers worked hard but just annoyed and frustrated me with his decision making. In defence I still worry about Souttar; his concentration, awareness and ability to be on the same wavelength of his central defensive partners. -

Wasn’t missed today which is encouraging. Gaffer got the lads buying into his ideas and playing roles to suit the team. Great to see. We’re looking good…
I think we looked far more controlling and compact as a team with everyone doing their job. At times I feel Cantwell tries to do too much and runs all over the place when he would be better calming down and using his football talent for the team.

That's a very good performance, brilliant goals and a stunning result.
Full throttle pressure on the scum for tomorrow.
This could be a Carlsberg weekend 🤞
Yes, a really dominant controlled team performance from the start.

Is it wrong to feel a bit disappointed at only winning 5 nil? Thought we were much better than the scoreline.

Think this will be a hard watch, just cannot see goals from that front three.

It was a cert once our board made the plea to keep him away from our games.

Goldson has to stop the cross, both are at fault. Goldson is the common denominator in a defence that’s consistently done by a ball hooked first time over the top by the opposition
Goldson is ever present so by definition that is the case. However, does this not happen more when he is alongside Souttar? Anyway that is always going to happen when we more or less play with a 2 man defence since both full backs roam forward at he same time leaving no full back to cover across.

Goldson was terrible for the goal aswell.....fucking eammon brophy running by you whilst holding him off...he has to cut the source before Souttar gets the chance to fuck it up also
These two do not dovetail at all. Souttar seems to be in a world of his own; the Aberdeen goal was an example; full backs up the park and he wanders forward as well then stands and watches as Goldson is trying to defend on his own. Our central defenders have to be closer for one to challenge and the other to come across t clear up as our full backs are in no position to do that. Probably the reason Souttar is not the first choice partner.

Was going to say central defenders need to weigh in with goals sometimes. Now it has happened thank xxxx

Cannot take much more of this, just fearing the last five minutes.

Would not say unlucky just not clinical.

Need to convert these chances, seen it far too often battering teams and losing a a goal from one of their rare attacks.

Not good enough for Aberdeen but we signed him, still not good enough for Aberdeen.

Certainly was a hard watch, similar to many of our games against lower league teams. We go ahead then slow the game down to their comfort level and the sloppy passing and poor ball control comes in. Why do we keep on doing this no matter who the manager has been? Thankfully the subs brought a bit more urgency to calm nerves and Cantwell brought much needed guile.

Took Messi out of his pocket at 94 minutes so he could go back to Barca dressing room.
