Suggested we'd could play without a CF and have Sima & Matondo wide as a front 2 with Cantwell as a false 9 / attacking midfielder. Would get us an extra body in the middle. Logic was that could help occupy their CHs and full backs better and Dessers as CF is poor, can't hold up play, occupy CHs, impact a game etc.

Clement stuck by his tried and tested method, and Dessers offered exactly what I knew he would. The system we play isn't the problem unless the players we use in it aren't good enough. Then the players need to change (we've almost no options) or the system does.

    Agreed.

Personally I thought Clement was slow in making changes. I'd have liked to have seen Sima moved central and brought Matondo on the left with instructions to run at Johnston who was on a booking for most of the game.

  2. He seems a nice laddie, he tries hard I'm not going to hate on him. But for the love of fuck can we start playing anyone else but him. Pay him off, loan him out whatever he's just not a footballer.

One of the worst CF’s I’ve ever seen, at the moment, I can’t think of any worse and we paid MILLIONS for him.

Well, if you class Lammers as a CF, maybe him?

  4. In Beale's defence, he has stated Sima and Roofe were carrying knocks and not available to start.

So with that in mind, when Matondo got injured, his only options were to change shape and switch to a back three or throw Lovelace or maybe Ridvan on the wing.

The problem isn't today, the problem is the multiple fucking turkeys he signed this summer which has led to it. Only Butland is good enough (I'll hold judgement on Danilo) and it only takes a few injuries for us to have to rely on said turkeys and this is what we get.

I was fully expecting Wright to feature at some point, it's not like he signed any wingers this summer to offer an alternative option.

I genuinely don't think a new manager could do much else with the group of shite he has assembled.

Actually don't think the new guy has a chance squad is a mess

Precisely. I don't have much of an issue with Beale's team selections as he has assembled such a bloody mess, there are little to no options to improve it.

We do not have a left sided winger.

We do not have a right sided winger.

Hell we could have a fully fit squad and we are still having to shoe horn players to play out of position. The balance is all wrong.

Now the window is shut and we are resorting to Rabbi Matondo as one of our key threats. The same player who could not make the squads last year and rightly so, he is nowhere near the required standard and epitomizes just how far we have regressed. It's sickening.

Any new manager has next to no chance with this squad. Would it be wise to hold off until nearer to January when he has a fighting chance to sort this shambles out?

  6. Beale is responsible for the mess we are in, unfortunately however I do not think the squad he has assembled will be any better under anyone else. We have no quality going forward.

Only binning the dross we have singed this summer and bringing in better will sort this out.

Is there any half decent young wingers we can bring in from the B squad? Desperate times.

Hagi really polarises our support. He made plenty of important contributions after his initial loan period. Couple of examples off the top of my head: he was crucial to us beating Galatasary to qualify for the Europa at Ibrox, he scored a winner at home to Hibs in December of the 55 season. But he has always had games, or a stretch of games where he is way below par. Like the first half of 21/22 he was desperately poor at times.

It's been clear since the summer we've been looking to move on from him, and that's fine. I don't think he's consistent enough. The problem comes when our new signing in his position doesn't look any better than him - which can also inflate people's opinion of what he can contribute.

Yep, can't argue with that. Hagi is far too inconsistent and lacks the pace to be a top top player. Honestly, I'd have been okay with letting him leave for a decent fee, until I saw the likes of Lammers and Sima in action. It's early days I know but Hagi looks to be the better option imo.

Seen folk on twitter putting him in there starting team for Tuesday after a half decent  20 minutes against Morton 😂

A decent 20 minutes at Morton is more than what Sima, Lammers and Dessers have offered combined
