  1. Does anyone else have the tragic reality of remembering the names of many regen heroes over the years in your best saves?

Shaun Mathe. Local youth player to South African side Dynamos FC in Giani, South Africa. This is a small town of about 25,000 people.

Long story short, my Brazilian superstar had been wrecked in a night club numerous times across the season but always ended up back in my side because of how good he was. I rinsed him for all he was worth then he did it again literally the few days around the CAF Champions League Final. This was the first step of a successful Pentagon Challenge and if there wasn’t an injury crisis then the young local replacement would never have got the nod.

The 17 year old Mathe gets the nod.

He makes his debut in the CAF Champions League Final.

He scores an 80th minute long range 35 yard cuntball past the Zamalek keeper to win the African Champions League - for a town the size of Elgin.

    FM14 what a game.

Special mention for the 4-2 game at their midden, Mendes goal, Cousin bullying them and Boruc making an arse of himself.

My best mates da came home that night with a big gash on his head, friends mum went off her nut screaming what did those animals do to you

Turned out he’d got it before the game on the bus after his mate meant to fake throw a bottle of wine at him and fucked him on the coupon

Wore a hat to get in, still says no regrets

I’m convinced it was some version of this:

A few issues - one, it only really works if you have lots of technical ability and play in a league where teams are open - two, even then it rarely works, as Diniz has been sacked loads of times trying to play a similar way with other teams - and three, Beale is utterly fucking incompetent so it was doomed to fail from the beginning.

I think you’re giving him too much credit there. As much as he likes to think of himself as a football hipster there’s no way he was trying to implement that. We never concentrated the ball on one side of the pitch using those ‘Brazilian ladders’ to move up diagonally and the chaotic movement that Fluminense side displays wasn’t visible - if anything we were static in middle positions.

It was more that we funnelled the ball narrower and narrower from our full backs in a sharp point to the opponents 18 yard box, before becoming bottlenecked, being forced into returning the ball out wide to be crossed from deep, or we simply lost possession and got pumped on the counter.

It was a complete tactical clusterfuck that made no sense and had no right being introduced so radically with so many new arrivals, only to then be backtracked on after a few games. He didn’t even believe in his system!

So it’s no wonder that the players didn’t have a fucking clue what he was expecting to happen and it isn’t a surprise so many of them looked so far off it.

    He was woeful today.

He wasn’t best player on the park but he certainly wasn’t woeful

That moment of play comes to mind where he won the ball back in our box surrounded by Hibs players, carried it out wide pushing off their press and played a fantastic ball between their right back and centre half

He made mistakes too, no doubt, but he was far from woeful

He’s a muppet but the head knock rule is ridiculous and there for abusing.

Anyone who goes down with one if they want to be serious about it should be taken off for a test and not allowed back on for five mins.

Will stop pricks going down and seeing where the ball is before they pretend they have a sore head.

Needs to be enforced properly in the meantime. Sima got bodied holding his head, think the Hibs player was down too which is worse, and the cunt was two hands up playing advantage for Hibs to counter.

    Dirty bent cheating bastard.

    Underestimated by whom?

Papac was solid. Week in, week out. 215 games in 6 seasons. Reliable. Dependable.

My point is basically was he better than ‘solid’.

How does he rank with our best left backs? I’m not saying he was the best I’m just wondering how highly he’s valued.

  7. I burst out laughing when I saw that

It’s genuinely impossible for that cunt to be embarrassed. He is completely oblivious to his failures. He honestly doesn’t look like a man who’s learned from anything, it’s just pure ego and arrogance.

He should never in a million years got our job and that stuff with Gio was disgraceful, unbelievable to treat a club legend like that who had got us a penalty kick away from winning a European trophy just months previously.

    Shocking.

  8. Genuinely.

How would you rate him against other strikers of his time?

For me, he’s up there and was just everything you want in a striker. He was a big game player, tall, strong, great in the air, relatively quick off the mark, incredible movement, superb finisher, powerful long shots, great with his feet, aggressive as fuck, bullied defenders sometimes to an embarrassing extent.

    Whacked

  9. I’m not saying he’s not rated - he obviously is with the cult hero status that he still receives whenever his name is mentioned.

I just think that he might be underestimated given the level he was playing at, his trophy haul, international experience (39 caps for some very decent Bosnian teams with Dzeko et al), and the standard of consistency he displayed across all competitions including the Champions League.

Anyway, I’m a bit cunted and this entire post has come from 2:05 in this clip
