The club announced their participation in it, and had started promoting it. Of course we'd signed contracts etc. Surely you can't be that stupid?

Can't get excited about all this chat of replacing Gio until I see a few realistic names who would be a fairly safe bet to drastically improve things. Getting rid of an underperforming manager is only half the challenge. The easy half.
And even then, whoever comes in will inherit the same injury nightmare.

Gerrard, like the board a couple of years previously, inherited a mess that was a long distance behind a club who had a free ride to league titles and subsequent access to CL money (it's almost as if it was manufactured and facilitated )
They had time and space to build a successful player trading model which still allows them a financial advantage to this day.
The gap however is small and success can and will swing back and forth again to the pattern we saw in the first 12 years of the millennium

And whats progress? Cause gio started by winning his first god knows how many games, got us to a euro final, and he is to be binned less than half of the second season gone
What manager is gonna not want more financial security with that pressure

I think the Champions league took it's toll on our players knocked them for six I think we would be better going away as a squad
with light training team bounding & a easy friendly thrown in give everyone including Gio time to reflect on what's going on & how to fix things

I don’t know, the phrase “flogging a dead horse” comes to mind when people are saying about keeping them working for the full break.
I know it’s been a total shit show but I can see the merit in trying to get them to reset rather than just working them into the ground for 5 weeks as a punishment.
If working on tactics or fitness for 3 weeks isn’t enough then are we really saying an extra 2 weeks is gonna make a difference?

He’s ruined our season aye. But if Craig Whyte, that ex shellick chairman from the Labour Party, Desmond Donnelly or whatever their main shareholder is can’t ruin our club then pretty sure an ex player who just isn’t good enough (to ruin our club) …
Ruined the season aye. But ruin the club is a bit far imho

So Gio walks into the room and tells the squad no holidays or one week holiday……that’ll make the players want to play for him. It would absolutely work against him even more.
The answer is to give the players 2 weeks off and tell them to consider their future at the club because a new manager is coming in.
After the 2 weeks they come back and the new manager can get to work with them for 3 weeks to see who is worthy of a place in the first team or even at the club.

Unfortunately the lack of hunger among top footballers is not confined to Rangers. With a few notable exceptions none of them play for the jersey anymore. They still get paid win or lose. It's unfair to single out Tav. He tries as hard as anyone, and his record for scoring and assists is remarkable.

Hope you are right, but I don't see it.
Most of these types come in, buy the club with an eye watering loan taken out against the club, putting our debt through the roof. They then cut costs to the fucking bone giving us a wage bill which is purely at the level of our gaurunteed income. I.e. season ticket income and TV rights etc.
Any money from things like Euro participation is taken right back out as profit for them, where they have not spent a fucking penny as the club effectively paid for them to takeover.
We would be where we are now, with a fraction of the current wage bill.
They never want to risk gaurunteed income and have a gamble to start making big money through spending vast amounts and hoping for CL money. They will always take the easy money and use this to do their next scheme with some other business.
The current board offer us the safety of knowing that whatever we bring in will either go straight back into the club or go back to paying off money they actually put in themselves.
After these last few years, I'll always pick guys to run is who have our interests at heart, not the drive to make money for themselves as the primary reason.

    Genuinely my thoughts too.
The board are genuinely doing what they can while we are hamstrung by where we are based.
We grew up in an era where Rangers being a massive club, with huge numbers coming through the gates meant we could compete at a decent level.
World football has moved on. Distorted by the mega money on offer in other leagues.
Having 50k through the gates these days allows you to get mostly cheap gambles and championship level journeymen, where as Brighton and the likes could drop £30m on a player if they wanted.
The board can't be expected to take us back to any form of glory day unless there is a massive shakeup to football through some form of financially doped up superleague.
I would be seriously worried if this US group shows a serious interest in us, as I don't see what is in it for them. Only way it would make sense is for them to cut us to the bone and syphon off revenue.
There is no real money to be made from us whilst making us a real challenger.
We need people in charge who are primarily concerned with success on the field and profit comes second.
    This board give us that.
Go with someone else and there will be absolutely no ambition to make us topple Celtic. It will purely be about return on investment. If that means coming a distant second each year, they will do that.
Sure GVB has been a flop this season and some of our signings have been poor value for money so far. This US lot take us over and I can't help but feel we will be more targeting the Lee Hodgson instead of Ridvan Yilmaz type market.

Any talk of SG is just short sighted, predictable, uninspired drivel.
He deserves a thank you for pulling the club up when we needed it most and restoring a professionalism and pride we had long since lost.  He deserves a big thank you for 55 as well.  That's it - a thank you.  He wasn't an all conquering messiah - he did well in patches, not so well in others.  He then moved on, as did we.
The fact that neither of those "moving on" situations have worked out doesn't mean we should think about him coming back.
It's like going back to your ex that left you because your current bird is shit in bed and your ex gave you a brilliant BJ a couple of times.

Can we please have a quiz when you join the forum that you need to pass that involves understanding the basics of a contract in order to avoid people saying things like "cut our losses", "move them on", "get shot" every time we have someone with a succession of injuries?

Agreed. It wasn’t useful not acknowledging that.
But I just think we as a support put more credit in the bank for winning (or possibly not losing, these days at least) the OF games than we might be willing to acknowledge.
I don’t think there’s any separating order of priority of 1) winning 2) beating the filth and 3) playing well. Possibly number 3 taking a back seat.
