He was brilliant in Belgium for Cercle Brugge, I remember a few of the big teams were fighting it out for him after that season (was the same season we signed Sakala) and had a 1 in 3 record in Ligue 1 before they made his move permanent. Looks like he and the club have struggled this season though. If the fee isn't too much, he is worth a punt, especially if Beale knows what he is like.

  2. What strikers have been linked with that haven't been shot down? Wright, Gyokeres and Grant have all been rubbished. Piroe, Yates and Maja haven't but I think Maja is the only realistic one there should they miss relegation. Have I missed anyone?

With the overhaul that's needed, and I'm talking about starters, I very much doubt we are as desperate for a CB as other positions.

Goldson 100% starter with Davies, Souttar or King.

That should be plenty for the SPL.

I don't think Davies will be here next season, thankfully

  4. I'm imagining when he says 4/5 to come in, that is without replacing sales. So instantly, I'd say GK, CB, CM, ST and RW there. Say those replace McGregor, Helander, Arfield, Morelos and Kent (I would keep Jack purely for HG reasons). I would sell Kamara, Hagi, Lundstram and Davies. Instead of direct replacements, I would get a CB, CM, LW and ST if they leave.

New GK | Tavernier Goldson New CB Yilmaz | Raskin New CM | New RW Cantwell New LW/Lawrence | New ST

Bench: McCrorie, New CB, Souttar, King, Barisic, Devine, Jack, New CM, New LW/Lawrence, Sakala, Colak, New ST.

Nine players in one summer isn't too ridiculous. Put it this way, what will leave us in a worse off position, signing too many players that don't gel straight away but have the chance of becoming a solid team after a while or persisting with guys like Lundstram, Kamara and Davies who have let us down multiple times already and will most likely do it again?

"Todd was an excellent player when he was young and playing against my Liverpool under 23s".

When he rejoined us I listened to 3 or 4 hours worth of podcasts Beale had done, it's clear from these and a lot his comments on the job for us that his comfort zone is working with and recruiting players he knows.

Rather than say scouting unfamilar but untapped talent in Europe or further afield.

I highly doubt he has signed him purely off a game against his U23 squad about six seasons ago like you are implying mate.

He will be more aware of English players, players he has worked with or players that have worked with people he knows well. That is the same with every manager really, Gio is the only manager I can remember not to sign a player or two from his home nation that he was aware of AND knew fitted what he needed. I'd say more often than not those signings are the ones that are successes as well. If he can supplement those kind of signings with a few scouted talents across Europe like Raskin then great.

You really think a draw and 2 defeats the best we could of got?

He absolutely deserved that defeat in the final, he shot himself in the foot multiple times that day. We didn't deserve to lose last week though, and anyone blaming Beale for that defeat is an idiot. What exactly is he supposed to do to prevent Davies shitting out a header in his own box unchallenged and then Souttar putting their player through on goal? Never mind the disallowed goal as well.

Some ridiculous injury list, we managed to play our strongest team outwith Jack, who was on the bench. He fucked it by watching us drop deeper, and deeper and instead of trying to change it he brought on James Sands. He also watched Sakala terrorise Juranovic down the right, and then put him central to put Scott Wright out wide.

Fair enough, don't know why I remember us having more injuries for that game. I agree that Sands coming on was the wrong sub entirely, should have Roofe or Colak even if they were only fit for 20 minutes.

If he can't beat them in 5 attempts it doesn't bode well for next season whatsoever.

Well out of the three so far:

The first game he had a ridiculous injury list and yes he could have made better subs but the pathetic defending for the second is hardly his fault.

The second was entirely on him for starting Kamara and Lundstram and refusing to take them off early doors.

The third isn't even close to being his fault. You could have the best blend of Bill Struth and Pep Guardiola in that dugout and still lose that game if your two centre halves are going to act like that.

In other words, I think any manager would struggle beating them with this squad right now. They don't score enough chances, make too many defensive errors, have a decrepit old man for a goalkeeper and half of them have an utter shitebag mindset, all of which is beyond his control. Even Walter couldn't save this squad.

Cunts saying we need an overhaul, thats just no gonna happen. 4 or 5 quality starters can make all the difference.

It needs to happen though. Bare minimum of a starting GK, CB, CM, LW, RW and ST. There isn't a single forward at the club that is good enough to regularly start in a title winning side. Other than Cantwell and Raskin our midfielders are beyond average. Goldson is the only CB good enough to regularly start and even he has his flaws. Goalkeeper speaks for itself.

That is before you consider that half our bench is either pish, shitebags or injury prone. I'd have McGregor, McLaughlin, Helander, Davies, Lundstram, Kamara, Davis, Arfield, Roofe, Morelos, Kent and Wright as definites to leave and that isn't even being harsh. 12 players right off the bat.

So you want incompetent boards members, a shite CEO and a useless hierarchy to appoint a DOF that might be a useful position to have?

Never said I want them appointing the DOF either, in an ideal world Robertson leaves today and we have a new managing director and DOF in this week. Even if we had a competent managing director, I'd still rather a DOF was there to oversee the footballing side of the club and allow the MD to focus on the financial side.

  11. I don't agree with the sentiment that the role is completely useless and we are better off without it. Maybe if you have board members and a CEO that is both competent and knows football, has networks etc you can get away with it, but fuck letting Stewart Robertson hire medical, academy and scouting staff. He tried to hire Derek McInnes fs.

If we get a good director of football and not an egotistical attention seeking clown like Wilson then it is a very useful position to have.

  12. I can see us going back in for Whittaker this summer, not even been on the bench the last couple games for Swansea. Their fans seem a bit baffled why Russell Martin can't use him properly, keeps playing him as a CF yet his best spell at Plymouth was as either an RW or AM.

Can see us trying for Willock as well who has went off the boil at QPR since Beale left but was doing pretty well. I'd say the same for Chair but he is probably outwith our budget, whereas Willock has a year on his contract.
