  1. I'm reading Robert Enke's biography right now writen by Ronald Reng (A Life Too Short: the Tragedy of Robert Enke). It's sad to read how the anxiety was rooted in him from a very young age. He loved football, but it also took a massive toll on him.
  2. TV needs more AC Jimbo. Well as long as it doesn't prevent him from continuing with Football Weekly podcasts that is.
  3. I wonder if that was heading in, until the keeper tried to save it, but only managed to give the ball the spin needed to go in.
  4. Last year the game was released without any disk protection. This year of course it's a whole different story with the whole Steam thing. I bought the game, it's minimum fuss dealing with Steam and I play it so much that it's definitely worth it in the end.
  5. That team is a disgrace to the Ajax name, I think they've now conceded at least 10 goals in 3 different games this season. This season in the league they played 31 games, won none, drew 4, scored 11, conceded 153.
  6. He didn't escape punishment, he got booked, which usually stops any further action. Where the ball was is irrelevant.
  7. at how he goes and celebrates like he's the goal scorer and the actual scorer doesn't really know what to do.
  8. Not quite. I think the court suggested UEFA reinstate Sion, until the matter of whether they actually broke transfer rules or not is solved, the court made no meritory decisions, therefore there's nothing there yet for CAS to uphold. The UEFA appeal hearing and the court hearing today were two separate issues.
  9. It has been confirmed today that October 21st is the release date. Can't wait.
  10. He welcomed Uwe Rosler to the Manchester United hall of fame.
  11. Whyte should just come out and set the record straight, then none of this would be neccessary. This was it just raises more suspicions and no one is any wiser.
  12. In the Russian league derby game between Spartak and CSKA played in August, Akinfeev picked up a knee injury that has ruled him out for at least six months. Yesterday Welliton was hit with a six game suspension for his role in the incident. Does this collision warrant a 6 game ban? You be the judge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiVm4AIT6EI Here's the story regarding the ban: http://www.goal.com/en/news/553/russia/2011/09/07/2655141/six-match-ban-for-spartak-moscows-welliton-for-rash-challenge-on-
  13. http://twitter.com/#!/RobHarrisUK/status/110782439001047041 Can't believe someone would make that thing up and start spreading it. And you see all these footballers expressing their sympathy, shouldn't they, as better informed than most, know that he doesn't even have a son to begin with.
  14. Got the penalty that they deserved in the first half.
  15. You can say all you want about Fletcher, but he has set up the first and scored the second today. Him and Miller reversing roles.
  16. I don't see how, as Beattie's pay off was probably paid a fair bit of his remaining wages. So while yes, the wage bill is smaller, money was still spent on him leaving.
  17. In my third season, won the title on the final day, was never top of the table until then, was 12 points down with 9 games to go. Not a single player in double figures, top scorer Willian with 9 goals.
  18. From BBC's blog: Steve_Hibees on Twitter: "My mate's neighbour has just spotted ex-Hearts star Christian Nade flying into Glasgow Airport to sign for Rangers."
  19. Yes, all true, but it is still an unacceptable result. Everyone expected them to lose, but shipping 8 goals?! Keep in mind that a lot of the players, who played today will still play major roles in this Arsenal team for the rest of the season (Szczesny, Koscielny, Djourou, Ramsey, Van Persie, Walcott, Arshavin, Rosicky, possibly even Traore since Gibbs is injured all the time). Arsene's approach was suicidal. Btw. how good is Smalling at right back? He's made massive strides in his game since joining United, big, strong, surprisingly good with the ball and has no reservations with going forward. He'll probably start for England at right back as well in the qualifiers.
  20. Is there a bigger tank of a player than Elokobi? Absolutely massive.
  21. Yes, that is true. But it's a different situation. Fenerbahce were thrown out of Europe because of irregularities in the domestic league, which in theory means they never qualified, that's why they were replaced by Trabzonspor, which is fair in my view. Trabzonspor would've had valid reasons to complain if some other team was replacing Fenerbahce. In Sion's case they were eligible to play, but their rule infringement was specific to their tie, where they fielded ineligible players, which normally results in that game being registered as a 3-0 win for the other team, so if they do indeed get thrown out, then the only team that should replace them is the team they knocked out.
  22. Love me some Kate Giles, highlight of the draw for me. Heartbroken that she left CNN.
  23. Erm...Fenerbahce won the league last season and would've therefore gone straight to the group stages of the CL, not quite the same situation.
  24. I don't know, you could argue that since Sion fielded ineligible players in both legs then those should be registered as a 3-0 defeat for them (as it's normally done in such cases). It is a ridiculous situation though, I really don't get why UEFA or governing bodies in general. Look at how late Fenerbahce were thrown out.
