We're getting too ahead of ourselves here. If this was a competitive match, we'd grab a draw at best. Yes I'm enjoying the victory, if it mattered, they'd be up for it, we'd be on the back foot as usual.
It's not like we played the same team as last time we got turned over. We have fixed known weaknesses eg mobile goalie and mobile forward line.
We are not the finished article but don't underestimate that result.

That’s a horrible front line, but dunno what else we can do realistically.
Better than one with two non triers in it.

New players defo. Just as important however, new tactics, formation and ability to change if not working out.

Anyone still paying the money for Tillman?
Nope. Wrong for our game.

A new attack is absolutely needed, Beale implementing it is another thing, his football so far has been garbage in that department and I'm not sure new players will change that.
This worries me. One season aside we had similar issues under gerrard/Beale.

I reckon we should try and cash in on Goldsons for what we can get. just signed a new deal we could get decent money for him.
Totally agree. This thread seems to be where sensibles hang out.

I just fear whoever we bring in Beale will stick with the same formation and tactics and we'll be watching the same shite just with different players. Nee midfielders to sit there and not break the lines playing the ball to fullbacks to lump it into the box. The set up just now is toothless and impotent and doesn't create enough. Not sure how much different personel will change that.
This. 100 fucking squillion percent.
Other than tav and perhaps one or two others I feel our approach to the game has been constant since Warburton and it is long past sell by date.

They’re bringing our club down. If we continue with any of them next season be aswell handing them the treble again. They must see their names on the team sheet and think “ya beauty” every time.
serial loosers outwith a covid title.
BYE BYE
Sorry bit our club captain is firmly on that list as well. Our losers mindset has a lot to do with him.

He needs binned, had his chances and fluffed them.
And replaced with who that is fast clinical, perfect jumper etc?

Sorry but he's not good enough, he's let us down too many times. He's not a winner and we will never be able to count on him when it matters.
Players like that need weeded out from our club if we are to win titles again.
Not Rangers class
When we don't have the cash for the fast, clinical, physical, player that is the complete article.

He's pure pish. He can run fast but doesn't have a brain
OK so he needs to fix that. That can and should be remedied/coached.
Carol dweck, psychologist has advocated growth mindset v fixed mindset. The club provides the knowledge, exercises etc. The player provides the effort to improve those aspects of his game.

Can't coach sticking a ball in an empty net. You either have the composure and balls or you don't.
He's weak as piss.
Needs booted out with most of the others
Mate. He chose near the post to avoid the defender getting it. A silly choice as easier to miss altogether. Symptomatic of our play safe mindset. We cannot just go on buying players and living with inadequacies or ditching the players. We need to start adding value to players through removing those weaknesses.

Sakala miss doesn't get any better when see it again, so much easier than the easy one he missed last time he was Hampden.
I know he is 26 and reasonably mature but who the fuck is coaching him re that part of his game? The philosophy has to be there is always room for improvement and these players are far off the finished article.

It's actually embarrassing when you look at that and realise they scored while our players just stood and watched!

Sure but they didn't create anything. That's fine if you match them in a defensive sense, but who's providing for the attack? Our midfield didn't offer enough IMO.
It's the least of our problems, but I think that is faint praise. The midfield needs to be ready to defend and actually provide chances. Our front three are the worst part of our squad but as usual, our creative play today basically was: get the ball wide and hope someone arriving at the back post will do something.
It's not good enough.

As much as I feel we need to bin most of the current team, we really also need to address how we play the actual game. Again today, our passing at times was really slow and poor. Putting ourselves in trouble at times with it. Again a couple of hospital passes evident as well.
We went back from breaks when there was forward pass on or space to run in to. Several times we did this during break taking sting out of our own attacks. Usual 20 passes to get over half way line. One point in 2nd half they had 3-4 passes from back to front and got a corner. We take an age to get up park.
Our shy’s were slow, free kicks in half way line going back putting us under pressure instead of forward or even launched into their box. Tav collected a long ball out wide of their box in first half and got closed down by Maeda, instead of just hitting it off Maeda for a shy and keeping territorial advantage. He tried a drag back and put it out himself for a shoe to them. Just so stupid to watch. And shows a real lack of game intelligence. These are all things that can be coached into players to be better.
Big loopy corners to back post all game. Poor crosses in general as we always look to cross from about 25 yards out on the diagonal. Get to the bloody bye line.
This is why I’m worried about Beale. I’ve not really seen the improvements in our general play. The basics if you like.
It’s fecking demoralising at times
Agree. Have concerns that we will buy players for a system that really has been sussed. We get the basics wrong so many times. Who is questioning why we are so slow going forward?

He's been one of our better players this past while.
Currently there are many issues, like not having a decent forward line.
Better does not mean good enough.

Mate football's moved on.
We also overstate the role of a modern captain because of the types of captains we've had in the distant past.
Had to google Man City's captain for example - it's Gundogan.
First pick, respected by the majority of the players as a player and person, good ambassador for the club.
That's the modern good captain in football.
I don't see any benefit in changing it unless Beale's bringing in a new first choice RB, which would mean moving Tav on anyway.
In what way has it changed? Is it still eleven v eleven trying to outcompete and outmuscle the other eleven?

So you don't think on the field leadership when you go a goal down is important?

I remember fondly the days of Goughs and Browns, McCalls and McCoists and Hatelys and the rest all having a go at each for sloppy play or moments. Remember McCoist running back half the pitch to have a go at Gascoigne. . Winners, who had standards and were greedy to win.
Then you watch that 2nd goal today and Borna turns and looks at Davies with his hands out and Davies shoulders and head down just walks away. No fight, no anger, nothing.
And they aren’t the only ones. Not even professional pride.
nothing worse for fans than watching that.
edit: McGregor sometimes shows his anger with players and sloppy moments. Think most of the team ignore him tho.
Remember the blowups with ferguson in the dressing room after a shit result.
That is the sort of attitude we need from our on the field leader.
