Wright received a yellow, but persisted in giving the ref verbal - Tav and Goldson just stood back and watched beside him.
A decent captain and vice captain would have hauled him away, not these two haufwits.
The captain and vice captain are not really needed in the modern game don't you know.

What a load of nonsense. He scored a goal for Rangers and celebrated… and it’s an important goal for him after an indifferent start to his Rangers career.
Correct. If some of the midfield would take a pop low and hard no doubt they would score deflected goals as well to win matches.

Even when we are winning we are really not convincing.

Me too. What is this "data drives the way" pish?
Hope they are not going to let zone7 or some other pish software make the decisions. This removing personal responsibility for decisions.

Can’t see us letting him go until at least January but what do I know.
Whatever happens I’m sure there will be those who see it as another failing of the club given he is quite a divisive player.
May just do a kamara-kent-morelos and down tools until Jan. Then fuck off while saying how great we are.

Yes, they were moving the ball better than us and getting into space. Beale plays such a congested system our players are sitting on top of each other all the time.
Our first thought when we get the ball is to go back and keep possession rather than try to get the ball quickly to our strikers.
Probably fear of giving the ball away, opposition waltzing through our defence and scoring.
If the front 6 have faith in the guys being them they will not be so hesitant.
Remember our midfield are on the hook for covering for fullbacks.

Apparently, kings eleven of facebook has posted that we are talking to Kevin muscat in case beale leaves.
Haven't seen it myself. Wife tipped me off.

We could and should do. If we had one real athlete that chews up ground that would be more than fine for most spl games.
But also distinguish between a centre mid and an attacking mid. We actually don’t have any creative centre mids to play.
We have guys like Cantwell, Dowell, Lawrence, Hagi who are cam/8s.
It’s a very different role than what McGregor and Hatate do for celtic. Which is controlling the game, moving the ball quickly, picking open defences, creating space, moving and finding angles to pass with one another.
If we had a good ball playing midfielder to start attacks. And then a creative mid next to him to link up and Cantwell as the furthest forward. There would be far less reliance on our fullbacks.
But we don’t really have anyone who fits that mould. And we haven’t since Kamara chucked it and Davis got too old.
OK, so we should move away from setting up the midfield so the fullbacks can charge forward? Ditch the fbs for ones that can both defend instead? That what you are saying?

2 is nonsense. Our midfield don’t score/create because they’re shit and they’re all centre defensive mids.
And we’ll just ignore the goal he scored to put us through to play PSV.
Or the goal at Ross County
So, please tell us why we need these defensive midfielders and we don't just use attacking ones?

Like it or not, and frustratingly, he is our top scorer so its keeping that in the team but removing the deficiencies in his defending. Plus, we really didn't try it with Flanagan or Hodson, they threw it in with Hodson at the Paedodome.
The usual trap. The chances are he may be our top scorer because:-
1. He takes all the penalties (that others win for him)
2. Midfield covering up for him lessens the chances for others to score.
3. His crosses are often rubbish and easily defended.

It’s been ridiculed many a time on here but I’d seriously consider moving Tav up one and playing Sterling at RB behind him. The midfield couldn’t get any worse but it would avoid trying to shoe horn Cifuentes right side, etc. Leave Raskin (although arguably he needs dropped) and Cifuentes in the middle, Tav to the right, jokers to the left and stick with the shite through the middle 😂
Lawrence, Dowell or Matondo on left, Cantwell roaming wherever off a front man.
Mike Bassett 4,4 fucking 2.
We did that years ago with hodson and possibly flannigan. So we drop a midfield place just so captain fantastic can stay in the team? Not for this bear.

Just thinking, have we ever had any serious offers for him?

Look at the managers we have had during his spell. Most of them absolute diddies
Guarantee with a Walter or a Eck he'd have more trophies to his name. Just a pity he came in during this period with shite managers.
More likely they would have binned him.

Right back with 100+ goals in just over 400 appearances (1 in 4 goal rate for a defender…) we picked up for what £200k same time as waghorn - he might have lost some edge as he’s aged but some in this place are just mental when it comes to Tav.
Agreed. Tav is defo much bigger than the club. Would rather have lots of goals from tav but not win the big games. The whole team should be structured to make tavs job easy peasy.

True and it does my head in
For the Cantwell penalty we did nothing to influence the situation they would have been all over the ref, sowing the seed with the VAR officials and grabbing the ball to prepare for a penalty while the player gets treatment.
Correct. Something an assertive skipper could have led in....

Hate to say it but if it was incorrectly chopped off I would expect Rangers to complain like we did with clancy.
We are not so was probably in line with rules but it is a fucking stupid rule. We need to get much cleverer at this stuff ourself tho. Challenge every dotted I and crossed t.

This. We were looking decent doing this. Beale fucked about with it. Now look at us.

This is my view. Tav was brought here by warbs to help get out if D1.
Time to let go.

What's the thought on when cantwell got hurt. Should that not have been a penalty?

Replace our top scorer with a defender?
makes sense
No. Replace tav with a more focused and capable defender. Then switch the middle three balance to attack. You can do that when not having to cover so much for defence.

Actually forgot about that, thanks for the reminder. Fuck it, I have no idea what the solution is then. All I know is he seems to be the only one who can score on the team, but is continually targeted due to his defensive vulnerabilities. Some knee deep shite we’re treading through here.
Comes back to our attacking fullback reliance. Said for a while that needs to change . 3-5-2 with tav as one of the 5 if we really have that much of a hard on for him.

I think we might have tried it with Flanagan as well. Fuck, he's been here too long.
Agreed. Along with goldson. The full backs should be first changed tho so less come in from the sides. The we stick with one cdm and two attacking assuming 433. Thing is I just don't think our centre half's have the presence that previous ones have had and they need to change after fbs.

That’s for sure - he can’t defend to save his fucking life.
Look, Tav seems a likeable bloke but he’s never a defender in a million years, regardless of what’s on his CV.
He can score goals so if you must play him move him up and get someone in who can actually defend to replace him back there. And if anyone moans about him playing out of position in that scenario, that seems to be what every Rangers gaffer does with our players anyway so why TF not (aye, because it never seems to work, but in this case it actually might)?Remember we went through a spell playing him further up with hodson in as rb. The questions have always been there.
How long to repair this

While I agree that a new manager is needed, that will only work only if a proper break from the past is made. Taverner and goldson need to go. We need to change our style of play and that is just not possible with these two muddying the water. Tav especially when captains band removed.
