Irwin Sparkes 97
He was always very underrated because of his unlikeabilityBest fullback in the EPL for a decade. Unlike Ashley Cole and numerous others, he could actually defend just as well as he could attack
Amac9 2,060
Gary Neville; What a player. One of the most underrated full backs there has been. Great on the overlap, defensively solid, great attitude on the pitch and a real will to win.Sadly for the past few years his legs have gone but what a terrific servant to Manchester United. Andy 69
Wasn't getting much of a look in and was never going to go play for someone else. Right choice!

Yoghurto 9
Good decision, could've easily hung around till the end of the season at least, but everyone saw that his best football is far behind him. Was brutal whenever he played this season, lucky not be sent off against Stoke and West Brom.

sdunsmb 43
Agree with everyone, he was a brilliant RB in his prime but really should have retired sooner as he could no longer play at the top level unlike Giggs ans Scholesy.

bombaybadboy08 15,660
Beckham's FBMy friend, Gary Neville, retired today. Not only is he a great person, he is one of the best defenders to have played the game. It was an honour to play with him at United and for England. He deserves all the praise and recognition. Muff 245
Best right-back of his generation, one of the most underrated footballers and a born leader!* Premier League (8): 1995–96, 1996–97, 1998–99, 1999–2000, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2006–07, 2008–09* FA Cup (3): 1995–96, 1998–99, 2003–04* Football League Cup (2): 2005–06, 2009–10* FA Community Shield (3): 1996, 1997, 2008* UEFA Champions League (1): 1998–99* Intercontinental Cup (1): 1999* FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2008 * 85 England CapsSome record that!Played for the club he loved, always gave his all whether it was for Manchester United or England. Exactly the player you want in your team, on your side, and someone you don't want to come across.I loved his attitude, fire, heart, passion, commitment, talent and No Surrender attitude. Sadly, players like Gary Neville are no longer around.I also don't understand the rhat jibes directed at him. He never had anything bad to say about The Rangers. Escobar 13,676
He was a world class full back and loved everything he played for. Just unfortunate he never got his wish to play against us. Would have been a very lively/atmospheric testimonial for him. Never really liked him until I found out he wanted to play against us
