Playing with a left/right sided winger on the right allows that guy to cut inside and cause more problems ... yes it can limit his ability to cross balls when he hits the byline but he should be good enough to switch, when necessary.

Mourinho doesn't have to work with players such as Lafferty,Edu and the likes.

Anyway I dont seem to remember Jock Wallace playing Cooper on the right and McLean on the left, and he only ended Jock Steins time at the taigs by winning two trebles in three years, footballs a simple game you play players in their natural positions not all over the place and hope it works.

This might surprise you but football tactics evolve. It's got nothing to do with one system being better than the other, it's about what is right for the current game.
