Rangers may be docked 30 points next season.

Significant reforms to the Scottish Premier League’s rules on teams suffering an “insolvency event” have been discussed by member clubs.

A meeting of all 12 teams at Hampden on Monday saw a number of proposals for amending current regulations, which currently see ten points docked from a team which goes into administration.

One idea mooted would see a club in administration’s points from the previous three seasons averaged, then divided by three to determine how severe a penalty should be imposed.

Team A, for example, which finished high up the SPL table for three seasons and averaged 60 points each year would lose 20 points from their tally.

Team B, who have been a bottom six club for the previous three seasons, which averaged 30 points, would be deducted ten.

A further option raised would see the current penalty of a ten point deduction applied over the course of more than one season.

Also suggested was the possibility of imposing more severe punishments on clubs in the bottom half of the SPL table who are not in contention for a place in Europe.

It was argued clubs challenging for a spot in the Champions League or Europa League would suffer greater if they went into administration, as they would find it near-impossible to be granted a UEFA club licence to participate.

As clubs not competing for a place in Europe wouldn’t suffer that handicap, it was suggested they should suffer a greater points deduction.

The SPL board will draw up proposals for the next meeting of clubs in April but the plans will not be put to a vote.

Every member club of the SPL had representation at the meeting, with Rangers’ co-administrator Paul Clark also in attendance.

Surely it would be much fairer if they were multiplied by 3 ... especially when it's big bad Rangers .

Nice to see the SPL feel the need to dispense with democracy

You're suggesting I get banned from this board for speaking out against bigotry and the incitement of violence?

That would look good for the forum, right?

Fucking tarrier bastard.

Too much of the priest's cock for you when you were an altar boy.

I sympathise with you, ya papist cunt.

Why are clubs being treated differently in this ?

I thought the point was we all had to abide by the rules, yet here are the rules being changed to suit, and being stacked against Rangers.

Why should some clubs be deducted 10 points while others get 30 points taken off ?

All we ask is some consistency.

since we are already in administration, these rule changes surely wont affect us.

thats like saying you get 15yrs for murder then 2 months later they change it to 20yrs minimum for a murder conviction and try to turn your 15 yrs into 20. legally that couldnt happen.

so these rules would have to be from now on. meaning the next club to go into admin.

Let the new owner buy Portsmouth or a Conf side and let a Rangers FC 2012 forget these people, some of the recent media, SFA, and SPL chairmen comments are bordering on ludicrous. Or the can help us.

Do you really think that Portsmouth or any Conf club wishes to stand aside as the bigoted mob take over?

FFS delusions of grandeur or what?

Talking about a Rangers 2012, not the Tims, thanks for the input though.

That's rich coming from someone who wears tartan jeans.

Of course they need our money!

That wasn't my question though, who DOES benefit?

Why does need to be a who benefits?

It's all about making teams against us not benefit.

With 30 points to make up brefore a ball is kicked top six is only real option so what's the point even bothering about away games.

Save your money and buy loads stuff at ibrox.

With 30 points off going for top six place is all there's os to enjoy and some cup games home only.

SKY TV - Contract of £85m starting next season

The Rangers haters just don't care anymore, they would happily do themselves damage to get to us that is why this kangaroo court was assembled yesterday.

Liewell has the other spl clubs under his thumb and no doubt he has more or less threated that C*ltic would walk out on the spl anyway if they don't hammer us. The blood lust to see Rangers smashed is growing by the day and not just from that lot in the beast end.

TBH I think media were hoping for the redundancies to start last week/yesterday and have nothing more to say/print. So all this internet rumours shite is coming out. Titles taken off, 30 point deductions what a load of pish. Gretna - 10 points, Dundee - 10 points for first time, 25 for second. And the media are talking about 30, already on top of our 10? Don't believe it for a minute.

Surely there is not a court in the land that would sanction this proposal. If the rules were to be changed there would have to be a starting date for this and any club that was already in administration ( US ) would be exempt. Then again, We all know how the " Sporting Integrity " crock of Sh*t helped us in the past. Think Manchester.
