It will never replace TBB. What is needed is a basic short and gutsy verse. TBB is the same verse repeated. That is what would be required. I proposed a slight amendment to the old Gers version thus:Hullo! Hullo! We are the Rangers boys.Hullo! Hullo!.You'll know us by our noise. We follow Glasgow Rangers, our hearts are strong and true,We are the people who cheer the boys in blue. Ricky_ 893
Good work Bill, it's good to see the campaign to bring it back gaining some weight.I'd like to see us fight in the courts to bring back the old version, it's disgusting it is outlawed, makes a mockery of our legal system. Cry long and hard enough about anything that your offended by and get it outlawed seems to be the message. My suggestion would be, if it must be changed;Hullo! Hullo! We are the The Billy boysHullo! Hullo! You'll know us by our noise. We'll sing it like we used to sing, 50 thousand strongFor we are the The Brigton Derry BoysThe line i replaced it with is actually an original lyrics from marching through Georgia. The problem with the "clean" suggestions being banded around is that the song looses it's defiance with the happy clappy versions. We need to roar, it's a war cry, not a medley about hearts being strong and true.I think that the line is a defiant one, for the original song writer it was triumphant, as the unionist north defeated the southern rebels in the civil war. For us is triumphant & defiant, we're not only bringing back our war cry but we're rising again to the top of scottish football, '50 thousand strong' after they tried to kill us. allcinaye 336
Bill, firstly I’m glad you’ve become involved again with this issue, but I would like to add that if the so called offending sentence has to be changed to become something more acceptable to the easily offended it should be stirring enough to be shouted as a war cry as Ricky has suggested. (metaphorically speaking of course)
