elephants stoned 2,994
Maybe a donation to a charity of Pauls chosing would be better, love the idea of a match with Newcastle, i read that Gary Lineker, Chris Evans and some other guy are paying for Pauls rehab. Creampuff 22,628
If it's done it should be spent on improving alcohol awareness and treatment in the UK. Money won't help Gazza.
RockwellGers 14,726
The media leaving him alone would maybe help, the guy will be hounded for the rest of his life No escape.Does anyone know if there's any sort of tribute at the match today? TravelingWilBEARy 4,319
Some of the comments I've read on here and FF about Gascoigne have been disgusting. There's another one on this thread - clearly, there are some deeply unpleasant people about.
Bad Robot 21,287
I think it's a good idea with a set amount going to an addictions charity. With MA owning part of our club I don't see why this couldn't be a regular money making exercise for both clubs. We both have massive, loyal supports and it's a short journey down the motorway and two great cities to go out in. I think both sets of fans would enjoy this. Clemdog 39,389
Like it has been said it isn't money Gazza needs.Nobody can help him, but himself. I really hope he has that support to get him to that place.
legalbeagle 3,734
I don't know if something like this, regardless of the money, is the best way to deal with this sort of thing. He needs what is being provided, specialist attention not something which would raise money he doesn't need, and to be honest, I wouldn't have any idea what the mood would be like in the stadium for it.Constant messages of support and encouragement are the best thing we can do for him. gersandy 594
It's not money Gazza needs. It's the support of friends and family around him , a lot of patience from them and a desire to stop. But, I see what you are saying.A related charity or support group ?Everyone is desperate to help in whatever way we can but maybe just a display of support at our next game is all we can really do.It's all upto him in the end.The treatment center hes in is expensive. The bill could amount to hundreds of thousands. He'll need all the money he can get.

We Will Follow Rangers 12,942
initially, I was kinda repulsed by the idea but on reflection, pauls ill, suffering a life threatening illness, had it been cancer no one would have batted an eyelid were we to have a friendly with newcastle to raise funds for cancer charities, it it because its alcoholism? harlands plater 16,989
Something ironic about a trip to get pished in Newcastle because of Gazza's alcohol problem?
terrybutcher 23
He needs to be out of the spotlight,I dont see how a big glamor game against newcastle is going to help.Terribly stupid thing to suggest imo
Jonnyjardine 20
Money does not solve alcoholism.Gazza needs the correct support to survive this episode.
