Cheers GB, signing off now. Hope everything works out with this thread, and I bet whoever ends up going will report back here and say that D Cole is a top bloke. Top bloke I say.

Well he wears a blue jersey - that's enough for me :21:

I may well have to if nobody else is interested, or if I fear for Darren's safety ;)

But I thought this would be a great opportunity for someone to take their kid along - the kid would surely get more out of it than any of us.

If you're not going I would like to be put in the draw with my +1 child

Thank you

i think everyone should nominate GovanBlue to go along the work u and the boys have been doin on this site is outstanding, keeping this site active with all the members, and raising money for rangers. U lot are different class!!

I agree with this, govanblue deserves to attend this.

It's the only way to guarantee Darren's safety. :pipe:

Names in the draw so far...

  • Better Than All The Rest + kid
  • IanB1547 + kid
  • ElleBear + kid
  • Blueballss + kid

I've also had a bit of a brainwave - maybe we can send TWO kids in, and parents just sit in the car park for the hour or so that it lasts.

Thats a great idea

The kids are over awed by match days anyway to be fair

But to meet a player!! Think of the bragging rights at school lol

I will nominate you first if you want to go

If not

2 kids

I will be quite happy in the car park, waiting for the framed shirt ;) (EDIT: for the raffle obviously!!)

But let's face it, they'd have to be pretty heartless to say "we'll let two kids in, but not the adult who's looking after them' - so there may be a way to wangle 3 entrants - as long as Lisa from Sponsorship doesn't read this thread ;)

Ok 2 kids and you to collect the framed shirt :7325:

I'll sit in the car park and ensure you don't get mugged :box:

Okay, I'm going to close the entries list now. We have four members, with kids, who want to go.

So my suggestion is that I have a blind draw, and that 2 members' kids get to go.

That will obviously disappoint 2 other kids, so I propose that those two are automatically chosen for next year's visit.

How does that sound?

Does that not compromise next years draw GB?

A lot of folk have shown no interest due to the player in question.

Well to be honest BB, that's their problem.

The Sponsors' Fund for next season will not be on a donations basis, it will be a raffle - so people will be in it for raffle prizes, not the chance to visit Auchenhowie, so I personally think that the fund can do what it wants with next year's trip.

If other people think differently (or the same), they are welcome to speak up, and the will of the members will prevail. (tu)

Not really the Sponsor's fault that Darren's got a bit too much to say for himself.

Just didn't think that any folk with kids shouldn't miss out next year due to it being decided in advance.

I take your points, but let's be honest:

1. It might not be our fault that he tweeted what he tweeted, but he's the player we have for good or ill.

2. Darren's comments have (in my opinion) been blown out of proportion. Let's review your and my last thousand posts and see if we've been squeaky clean throughout ;)

3. Are there any players out there who haven't said something a bit annoying over the last season?

4. There's technically nothing to miss out on because unlike this season, the trip to Auchenhowie is not being offered as an incentive to donate

5. If any member refused a chance to take their kid to Auchenhowie just because of that tweet, well, I pity them their small-mindedness, and feel sorry for their kid :D

I'm just looking for a way to avoid disappointing two young Bears, but these are just my opinions and suggestions, and nothing has been decided. We'll see what others think. (tu)
