Makes you wonder how Ally has even been able to appear to function normally

the quote was his 'correct' position - I ask what is his 'correct' position ? to me, in the modern game, most squads have players that can do a great job in more than one position - like little - to many seem to think that players (goalkeepers excepted) only have one position they can play and should only play in that position and that is just nonsense

His correct position is his best position and that's center forward. Agreed?

John Greig claimed that Ally knocked us back when he was a schoolboy, before signing for St Johnstone and then again before he went to Sunderland.

Yes, also noted in the biography. If my memory serves me rightly (been 16 years or so since I read it), the reason for this was Rangers wanted him to ditch School and he was not willing to do that. He signed for St Johnstone under an agreement that he traveled back and forth every day - allowing him to continue his full studies.

his correct position is where he contributes most to the team - sometimes that is wide right and sometimes that is in the centre - correct position is always relative to team - correct?

Sorry but your having a laugh. You honestly are. I know you like to defend your wee view points with strange arguments but that takes the biscuit.

do you just dismiss all the goals he contributed while playing wide right? do you not think team shape is important? are you really one of these people who think players only have one position ? do you think little can only contribute in one position? are these really arguments you are trying to put forward against Ally ?

He's scored a couple of goals from wide right, as I'd expect a Rangers attacker to do but he's scored the majority of his goals playing through the middle.

I'm not talking about Ally just now - I'm talking to you about Little's best position and you've said he sometimes contributes best out wide on the right? - if you genuinely believe that then cool, fine, ok - but I think you rationale and justify in your head to back your stance on McCoist being a great manager tbh.

I suspect he scored most this season from wide right but really it seems you don't think team shape with available players is important as long as you can shoehorn someone into their 'correct' position - so much for free flowing flexible football - just how ridged are you with selection and tactics - sounds like no plan b with you !

No plan B with me? that's McCoist mate

He's been out wide on the right a lot this season while you've had the likes of wee McKay on the bench ... no excuse and I repeat no excuse for playing 1 up front especially at Ibrox against these teams with Little wide right ...

***awaits "but we won the league so there's no more to say"

Unfortunately Alistair for it is he does not appear to have a plan A never mind any other plan.

I still await any reply on whether you think team shape is important - I know you want to deflect as you are making an arse of this ' correct' ( in you opinion 'only' ) position argument.

"I don't really have a set position, I have played upfront, right-back and in midfield, but I feel I am more comfortable the further up the pitch I play."

Little commenting on his preferred playing position in August 2011.[25]

Just so you know he often played right back for NI and the words above are his - he may have a preferred position but that does not make it his correct position - the manager has utilised him well and he scored a decent amount of goals while coming in from the right - how you can critisise Ally for that is beyond me

That is just plain fabrication, you're just making things up now.

I'm not making an arse of anything.

Team shape is indeed important, no argument from me there

But it's obvious our ideas of team shape are miles apart.

In short your happy to stick Little wide right while playing one upfront in the lower leagues. Fine ... if that's what you GENUINELY believe.

LOL Now he wants to discuss team shape, So in his uneducated opinion playing a striker at right midfield whilst there are 2 or 3 wide midfielders on the bench is beneficial to team shape.

Is solvent abuse still prevelant in West Lothian ?

Didn't seem to do Andy little any harm playing out on the right, top scorer with 22 goals in the league.

You joking? he would have scored a lot more playing center forward instead.

I can count on one hand how many of them goals came from him playing out on the right.

2 problems with that.

1. He never played RM all season, He played up top on many occasions, He also played wide left, (I have no idea why)

2. Imagine how many he would have scored if he had been played up front.

I like little when he is fully fit you get a good shift out of him, I think if he had not spent the time out injured he might have shaded Jig to Rangers player of the year, was trying to find statistics for assists, sure there must be some somewhere for the 3rd division. Remember Little being provider on a few occasions. This has certainly been his most prolific year, would Jig have scored as many if little was playing through the middle. Sometimes you have to remember that football is a team game...

First time in 23 years that we have failed to win any of our 4 opening away games under Ally.

Horrible statistic, wonder how much of it was down to culture shock, surely Ally hadn't been working with the players long enough to make them bad.

No, totally incorrect. Little playing wide right detracts from team performance by keeping a specialist RM player out of the team.

Presumably BP9 thinks Sasa Papac often made most contribution to the team when playing centre mid.

This idea that "any selection decision must be right because Ally made it and Ally was a successful player therefore he must be a good manager and anyway we won Div 3 by 24 points so there" is nursery school stuff. Laughable rubbish.
