Bothwellbear 1,392
JIM JEFFERIES last night insisted SFL chief David Longmuir should “hang his head in shame” for the 15-point penalty which pushed Dunfermline towards the relegation trapdoor. The Pars boss was involved in a furious bust-up with Longmuir in the East End Park tunnel before his side took the drop against Alloa despite winning 1-0.A 3-1 aggregate defeat was a sideshow for Jefferies who launched a scathing attack on the SFL supremo who he insists wimped out of taking responsibility for a decision which does nothing for the good of Scottish football. He said: “The people of Dunfermline should be proud of what these kids have done for this club.“There’s no shame on my boys because they had an impossible job but David Longmuir and the SFL should hang their heads in shame. I let him know my feelings before the game and I wasn’t happy with his answer. He said, ‘I’m only the messenger’ and for me that’s a terrible thing to say.“He was in that meeting. He’s the head of the SFL, he was part of it so don’t try and weasel out of it by claiming you are only the messenger.“They should never have taken that decision. I’m not talking about the number of points, I’m talking about any points. And this is not sour grapes. I’d have said that even if we had won and stayed up.“I just can’t see the sense in what the points deduction achieves? I’ve now lost my Under-20s because I can’t afford a youth system in the Second Division.“They’re a good Under-20 team who got to the Scottish Cup Final and eight of them have played in the first team.“But the SFL and their 15-point deduction have destroyed it.”Jefferies also believes the Pars administrator Bryan Jackson should not have accepted the 15-point sanction without more of a fight. He said: “The administrator should have contested it more but it’s not his fault. The SFL took advantage of that.“I should have been there, or someone with good authority should have been there fighting our case.”Perhaps not really for Bears Den, but yes Jim. What is the point in a points deduction........I think what has happened to the Pars and with Hearts on the way just goes to show that we should not have been so badly treated. I for one do not want to see these clubs die, as a few other posters in here have said, the people who made the decisions are only the custodians of the clubs. They have a long and rich history. But.... come on..... we all seen this coming.

scarkev 3,540
I would have loved to hear his position on rangers being deducted points last year....was that fair jim? It's the rules....at least they now have rules instead of the make up as you go along process we had to go through....maybe if everyone and their granny wasn't so quick to attack us and accuse us of cheating etc I'd have a bit more sympathy but as it is I think they got what they deserve and blaming longmuir in the media is more cowardly than any points deduction.... But.... come on..... we all seen this coming. Think we are going to be seeing a hell of a lot of clubs spokesman and chairmen coming out with contrite statements over next few years .I like you, don't think two wrongs make it right but it shouldn't be a concern to us while our own club is in such disarray .Fully expect Ally to come out with a statement agreeing with Jim Jeffries anyday now . Guardian 4,281
Typical of the short sighted Chairmen, fans and associations. Their new rules to screw us over were always going to come back to haunt them with a vengeance. The silly sods never thought they'd apply to them alsoKarmas a bitchThey got what they voted for and sporting integrity demands the rules be followed. It will be interested to see the SPL and SFA wriggle as they try to justify letting Hearts off. They simply can't afford to demote them as well. We must press for sporting integrity and make it hard for them to help Hearts to save themselves.
