McCoist plays down Forfar defeat

I am slowly changing my mind on Ally, sadly. To come out yesterday and publicly berate Charles Green for belittling the squad and then to speak that first line - it's just wrong. It is definitely going to be a tough month now that you have told the media your team is utter shite!

And... told his team that they are utter shite as well.

RANGERS: Gallacher; Hegarty, McCulloch, Faure, Wallace; Black; Mitchell (Aird 46), Crawford, Macleod (McAusland 74),

Templeton (McKay 99); Little.

We've had a chance now to step back and take a breath. I'm not going to make a plea for Ally here, he can do that for himself.

I have just watched the highlights from the club's site. Have a look at the team that took to the field yesterday, it was not as experienced as the team that fed us so much dross last year. All we had to go on yesterday was the twitter feed, so I expected to see the same punt and run football that was ever present last season. I don't think that was the case to be fair. I saw a lot of football being played on the ground. This team made plenty of chances which had they been taken we would have won easily. I thought the men who mostly let us down were the more experienced players. Little ( poor finishing ), Black ( completely unnoticeable ) and McCulloch ( responsible for both goals ). Little in what I thought was supposed to be his best position, centre forward, missed chance after chance both on the ground and in the air. Black, what can you say about this complete non-tryer? McCulloch was the biggest culprit. On the first goal he let the ball soar right over his head then tries to blame the goalkeeper. That was never in a month of Sundays a goalkeeper's ball. On the second goal he was covering Swankie and left his man to go to the ball carrier, whom he was never going to reach, and left Faure stuck between two defenders.

As far as coaching and tactics go, I don't know if we can say they were too far off either. We opened with a 4-1-4-1 set up which did create chances against the wind. In the second half he did attempt to freshen up the 'engine room'. Notice that each substitute was a lot younger than the man he is replacing. I understand that in the last quarter he moved McCulloch up to a forward position to assist Little. This may have cut down on the runs from the back from Wallace, but what good were they doing if the forwards couldn't take the chances. The best chance taken was from Crawford and the keeper saved well.

So, really what can a coach do about that lot? He sends a team out to make and take chances. If the team makes the chances and don't take them what is the coach supposed to do?

Maybe we just have to accept the fact that this team just wasn't good enough to overcome adversity.

This is just an opinion.

That sort of level headed thinking will not be tolerated in here!! ;)

If he was going to get his P45, I'd imagine he'd have received it today.

I'd imagine there were all sorts of meetings today but tomorrow will be the announcement.

There is no way a manager can survive that outburst yesterday. If he does the club must be in total impasse behind the scenes

You don't really think he can survive by tomorrow do you?

With that outburst he has to be binned.

Efforts are being made to placate matters which in the short term is beneficial to all, however Billy will arrive sometime Ally can't walk he handcuffed himself with WDDWA,

The ball is in court at the moment he either toes the line or he will be gone, Charlie is not someone to cross in any way, he has a long long memory.

I would agree, I think Ally will still be here for a while yet. He will be given the chance to see if his 'new' team can play any better. I am in no way saying I agree with that, but that is how I think the board will see it.

Where are you hearing this re billy davies? Or are you just assuming? As I've mentioned on here before billy is very good friends with my football gaffer and has taken us for training sessions before and is in regular contact with him....I would support that appointment whole heartedly mind you but I'm not sure there is any substance in this....at the moment!

The outburst on CG may have put the final nail in Ally's coffin, CG is still the biggest shareholder and pulling the string's from behind i will be surprised if Ally is not asked to step down and get another title within ibrox or he is sacked and his managed team who CG wanted rid off.

This 8 players pish is bullshit, the team that started had 5 full internationalists, a load of U21 internationalists, a wealth of SPL experience, and quality of player that far exceeded that of Forfar.

Its a fucking shite excuse and the same shite excuse we were being fed last season.

And McCoist moans about Green slaggin the squad when McCoist is moaning about the lack of talent available, basically saying that those available aren't up to matching the might of Forfar, is he doing anything different?

Absolutely sick of his constant garbage excuses.

Is sacking the manager at this time in the season not a recipe for disaster

The moneys spent his players etc etc

With the players we got in.. I think any manager could take over and do well til Jan. Would rather replace ally in this window rather than have ally spend alot of money in jan only to be replaced after that window.

Forfar on paper should not have won, but they did and that is football. We failed to take our chances and were punished. CG's pre game remarks were not really helpful in terms of timing, but if anything should have fired up the team to perform rather than be used as an excuse for failure. As many posters have said, Ally's comments actually endorse CG's comments.

However there appears little value in replacing Ally just now. Until there is a conclusion to the boardroom battles and one side clearly wins and delivers the Club unified leadership I cannot see any point in making any changes.

Instead of looking forward to a year of simply enjoying Rangers play football, with no further excuses for failures to perform having been caused by a lack of pre season and other turmoil, it seems we are right back at square one. A classic game of snakes and ladders. I for one cannot work out who are the snakes.

I have to admit I am coming to the end of my tether with Ally however I think we need to give him until Christmas once he has a full team at his disposal.

If the results have not dramatically improved I am afraid it will be time to go.

This is what I think, my patience is wearing thin though and yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back for a lot of people
