elephants stoned 2,994
If we could get Perry, Hegarty, Simonsen, Hutton, Cribari, and at least one or two fron the high earners Jig, Black, Shiels, Templeton, Foster, Smith gone then we would be much better off. It could be that to save having to sell Wallace, Macleod we must jettison guys like Jig i know hes our captain and all round hero but this is the time when big and difficult decisions need to be made and Big Lee is a high earner. Id be gutted to see him go but do we sell our prime talent to keep our older and more expensive players or do we keep the younger lads who are the future? BEE 4,880
One of the few who showed up for training at the start of last season, good luck to him in the future!
JM1872 3,708
Makes sense to me. All that was going to happen was he would go back on loan at Annan for a spell then we would be back to square one. Only our best youngsters have a real shot at the team right now such as MacLeod, McKay (on loan I know), Aird , Crawford and Gasparrotto should be included in that.No point fucking about with Mitchell and now would be good to see him get a permanent deal elsewhere, perhaps at Annan. When Stockbridge and co. said this time last year they were rattling though a number of cost cutting measures they clearly weren't. Graham Wallace will oversee the correct cuts.

I don't know what he's earning from the Club at the moment, but it won't be peanuts. As you say, tough decisions need to be made and with Jig due to turn 36 in a few months it's difficult to fathom the logic in keeping him. No offence to Jig because he's been a great servent and performed well beyond a lot of fans' expectations, but it's not a jobs for the boys club or Scottish football retirement home the Club is running and Jig is no Davie Weir in terms of his defensive capabilities. bluenosebrad 452
Yip I hear Annan are very kin to get him signed up. Will be the usual let the youth players go and they turn out for other teams and become good players

Madina 3,817
I thought he had a few really good games last season. Its a shame for the lad as he loves the club. All the best for the future Andy
mabawsa 888
If you want an apprenticeship, go to Rangers. If you want a real job go elsewhere. We have never been a club that cultivates the youth and brings them on long term to provide the club with a supply of players. Most that have come through last maybe 2-3 years max. We are a crap club in terms of bringing through our own players that last long in the big league.

docspiderman 1,228
Durrant more or less told him he was surplus to requirements last week, so no surprise he has gone, think more of the youngsters would be happy to move on as well. It has been obvious that there has been no plan to build for the future and now it looks like the easy way to cut costs is through culling the youngsters through loans as the first step.
