***The official Victoria Highlanders vs Rangers thread***

good to see the young guys get game time and play well, they will be needed this season, first half sounds impressive as well, we really need to keep working on keeping the tempo up for the full 90

worried about mcgregors performance, the championshi[ will be rough, especially given who we are and how everyone plays against us, a centre half that cannot handle himself is worrying

hopefully its just his bedding in period, but if hibs and hearts outmuscle him we could be in trouble, especially if zaliukas is injured for a bit

Hutton and Black in CM against plodders.

Seems Walter Jnr is not going to ditch this tiresome tactic which does nothing to improve our style of play.

2 sitting is perfectly fine, as long as the front 3 midfield and the striker up top are all mobile and quick

if hutton and black sit, macleod, aird and templeton could support miller up top, thats a highly attacking system given how our fullbacks push up (although foster is fucking rotten)

Who is our playmaker in the middle then if two are sitting?

Never saw the game but going from reports its definitely an improvement. Gallagher is showing a lot of promise even on the right wing and I think Ally's quite right playing him there against full backs rather than get smashed by a big strong center half

Gallagher does actually look like he could handle himself. More to the point, he looks like a guy who would not take any shite off of lumps who'd try it on.

Have high hopes for him. I enjoyed his efforts last season.

Did you see the match? That is the best our midfield has played in a long time. Black was absolutely everywhere and was MOTM. Hutton spreads the passes nicely. Very good performance from the pair of them.

  • If anyone can see what we are working towards beyond - 'Pick 11 names, defend in numbers at set pieces and struggle to deal with them anyway, struggle to retain possession with sloppy passing/desperate forward thinking, punt forward and hope'........I'd like to hear it.
  • Crawford was at right back - Challenges were rash verging on bookable, got mugged a few times, clearly more of an attack minded mid than a right back - would love to know if Ally thinks he could be a right back or whether this is a late attempt to teach the boy to be capable of defending?!
  • McGregor got abused (football wise), utterly skinned, got mugged one on one for their goal.......some people want Mohsni sold for peanuts and replaced with this guy,.......it's a no from me, any CB who is made to look like bambi on ice like that shouldn't be regarded as first team by us.
  • Opposition looked fitter and faster.
  • Gallagher Score one and his long testing shot created the second for Clarke.
  • McCulloch got brought on for Zaliukas to see out the win.
  • Shambolic defending,.....they were outdoing us with simple through balls in the middle of the park.
  • Rusty and desperate going forward i.e. pas ball about the back line for 6 or 7 passes, don't know what to do, punt it high and long to Nicky Clark..........crosses to no one etc. etc.
  • An improvement on the game against Mighty Morphin Power Max Fusion Stealth but same questions need answered, same things evidently lacking.

Side note - Seen one or two of the obsessed at our game in their celtic home tops,.........the fact they feel comfortable in doing that is beyond belief to me as was the fact they appeared to be unharmed.

The opposition looked fitter and faster?? Did you watch that first half?

"Folk like you have destroyed our great club."

Wrong, folk like that have been dragging the name of our great club though the gutter for years. If that is the only way you can find to enjoy yourself at a Rangers game well that really says a lot about you. When you go to another country to support the team why show yourself up by introducing things that have no relevance to why you are there or to the culture of the country you are visiting? You also shame the rest of Scotland's protestant community in the same way that the drunks who follow the Orange Walks around causing disturbances get the law abiding members of the lodges condemned for the actions of those who are not even members.

Do you still carry on with this behaviour at games in Scotland or do you just do it when you are out of the country and trying to show how clever you are?
