BlueThunder 8,653
Lifted from The Retard:RANGERS have clinched a double loan deal with Spurs for highly-rated youngsters Nathan Oduwa and Dominic Ball.Record Sport can reveal both players travelled to Glasgow tonight and will undergo medicals in the morning before putting pen to paper on season-long deals.Ibrox boss Mark Warburton has been thwarted in his attempts to land a third Tottenham young gun, midfielder Harry Winks, who has been told he will have a part to play in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad this season, in the London club’s Europa League campaign. But Warburton will be delighted to have pulled off the captures of 19-year-old attacker Oduwa and 20-year-old centre-half Ball who were both being courted by a string of clubs from the English Championship. Oduwa was particularly highly sought after with Reading, Brentford and Birmingham City all hoping to strike a deal with Spurs for the left-sided wide man.Defender Ball is also thought to be a player with a big future. In fact, he was recently persuaded by the FA to switch nationalities and play for England’s Under-21s after representing Northern Ireland at five different age levels from Under-15s up.Warburton, then, will see their arrival at Ibrox as something of a coup and an endorsement of his own methods. He forged a close working relationship with the White Hart Lane hierarchy during his time in charge at Brentford where he took a number of youngsters on loan from the Spurs academy. One of them, Alex Pritchard, was such a success at Griffin Park last season that he played his way into the England Under-21 squad for this summer’s European Championships in the Czech Republic and is now knocking on the door of Pochettino’s first team. The Argentine believes both Oduwa and Ball can now benefit similarly from regular first team football under Warburton in Scotland.A source said: “It’s a reasonable coup for Warburton to convince Spurs that these players will benefit more from a season working under him in the second tier of Scottish football than they would at clubs in the English championship.“Not only are they working with a manager that Spurs know well but they are also getting the chance to play in front of crowds of around 50,000 every second week and that is also a big factor behind the decision. The feeling is, if they can cope with that sort of pressure then it can only help them deal with playing in front of 36,000 at White Hart Lane.”Oduwa and Ball will train with their new team-mates for the first time on Friday ahead of Rangers’ Championship trip to Alloa on Sunday.Warburton took his squad to the Indodrill Stadium today to let them train on the heavily-criticised synthetic surface as the Englishman prepares for his second league game in charge. sammy cox 664
Probably 3/4 of an Allan I did think it was in the region of about 600k but not sure.Anyway no real importance but just shows the guy has got eyes everywhere and that's without the scouting system that so many were concerned about.Im sure as he said that will be addressed as and when the people for the positions are right. lgr1991 303
Well done MW lets hope these guys play their part must have something. Out of curiosity does anyone know just how much W&W have spent on bringing all the new players to the club?600k for the three Wigan boys, 70k for Holt, not sure if we paid compensation for Thompson. Chuck in signing on fees for Halliday, Fotheringham, Wilson and loan fees for these two players, probably totalling around 1million. Very shrewed business, all for just over Ally's yearly wage.... ThatNightInFlorence 696
Does this mean that we are now going to wait until we can get SA for nothing? How would a centre half and a forward change things? Although I do believe we will wait until January before getting Allan on a pre contract but it doesn't have anything to do with these loanees
