Not entirely clear why it is taking so long to sign him up again.

Hes come on leaps and bounds under MW and could be an important player for us going forward if he keeps working hard and shows the right attitude.

Total speculation. Agents! Get ins, get outs, buy outs, appearances, bonuses, guarantees

You've got to laugh at the headlines: I want Barrie in pockets to hurt opposition. I know he's small but that's below the belt!

Amazing what a real football coach can do to a player with obvious ability but also obviously struggling.

To be honest mate Warbs is a bit of a youth specialist considering he helped found the NextGen tournament and much more.

I think even someone like McCall would have really struggled to get Barrie playing so well every game.

I used to never like him and always seen him as 1 of the wee arseholes from the Nandos generation but fair play to the lad I can't praise him enough, if he keeps working on his game

I don't see why he won't be a first team player for a number of years to come unless somebody nips in with a good offer for him.

1 of our best players this season.

Consistency is a big element for any successful career at Rangers, so if McKay can be consistently good then he will have a great future at the Club; no one doubts his talent. One thing that is notable of late is that other players look to give the ball to Barrie. That is significant about how much he is appreciated by his team-mates,

Any credit giving to McCoist here? McKay was sent out on loan to two grim clubs to remind him how good it is at Rangers. He upped his game as a result.

None at all he shipped him out because he hadn't a clue how to manage or develop him, he preferred to pick his XI best pals who laughed at his jokes in training all week. McCoist nearly ruined the boys career why should there be thanks for that ? luckily after 2 loan spells he came back to a proper manager who knows what the fuck he's doing.

That's a pretty blinded view.

Is MW ruining the careers of Gasparotto, Crawford, Murdoch, Ramsey, Sinnamon, Walsh and Kelly just to pick his mates instead?

Certainly believe McKay had attitude problems while mccostalot was in charge.  A good manager would have rolled those issues in da house.

Mckay was better than what we had, are any of the players you mentioned?

Well, they don't get a game for us so it's hard to judge. Point remains, ignoring who the manager is and if people like him or not, is loaning out Auchenhowie youth ruining their careers?

McKay was an 18/19 year old boy, to categorically say those loans ruined him or set him back is silly. Having 50,000 put all the weight of their expectations and demands on a teenager just starting his career could have had a detrimental effect, we've seen it before in young players more often than not. Maybe he would have took it in his stride, or maybe his poor attitude would have become worse. Who knows? It's all conjecture. Those loans may well have been the making of him, and under Warburton's guidance now he is improving and flourishing.

I remember hearing boos and groans around Ibrox when he failed to beat the full back or misplaced a cross, that type of pressure for a teenager will always be difficult to handle. Playing away from the grandeur of Ibrox and the weight of our expectation where he could see what he was missing and learn away from the spotlight would have been a benefit to his learning curve IMO.

MW doesn't just pick his mates. Try again.

It's a silly thing to say, period.

Even Barrie himself recognises the benefits;

Quote

"I would like to think of myself as a role model for the younger ones. I have been out on loan, come back and I am a better playing for doing that.

“I’ve spoken to the young boys that have gone out on loan, I have told them that they need to go out and get the games they are not getting here.

“It can work. It is a big experience going out on loan and you see that different side of football. It is good to get that and see the way that teams train differently. I was a wee bit worried when I went out but at the same time I always had that belief in my ability that I could come back and do a job here.

The new gaffer came in and he gave me that chance. Being sent out on loan benefited me because I got to go out and pick up some experience.

“But you do feel you’re not really wanted at Rangers at the time and that you’re not really needed.

“At least I felt Morton and Raith wanted me when I went there.

The times on loan were tough because Rangers is where I want to be playing my games. But the loans have really helped me become a different kind of player.

The fact some Rangers fans can't shows their blinded view, IMO.

What he failed to add was ... if I had a decent manager at the time I wouldn't have the need to go out on loan.

Of course going out on loan was better than rotting away in McCoists home for his aged mates.

Barrie McKay is the player he is because of all the football experiences he has had, good and bad.

He will have learned and benefited from his loan spells, just as he has learned under MW. He will have learned from his time under McCoist as well.

This season he has been great and I am sure he will keep it up.
