The club should stop all business with them and ban them, ban any reporter who freelances for them and reports any game that appears in their rag.

They are not bloody on, this is a disgrace and the SNP should have told her employers and the rest of the rags not to print anything that could be used in evidence at this Independeant inquiry, If she has evidence she should be handing it over, if this came from a police source then that person must be sacked as if true it is evidence.

But we all know it's bullshit and we can prove it bear after fucking bear, do they have any video of these crimes being committed or is it just here say?

Paul Murray you and the board have been amazing but now you need to start handing out banning orders to anyone who attacks our club..

I and every Rangers fan expect this rag to be kicked out of our great stadium, enough is enough and we demand the club ban this rag for blaming Rangers fans and they get in when the print a front page apology.

No apology then they can write their reports on Edminson Drive,

An excellent idea and certainly something I would be willing to back however I fear your newbie status on here will prevent any serious involvement (no offence intended) Had this come from any the major players on here then yes I'm sure it could have made quite an impact.........any takers?

That is fine mate there are a lot saying we are at war but not doing anything about it. We need to be more proactive in our approach - abuse on social media will get our own name slung in the mud, as if we need to give them an excuse anyway.

It is best we highlight the lies and bigotry to the people most important to the DR - the businesses that fund it.

I am sure a certain Rangers director and owner of a few prestige car dealerships would be rather reluctant to continue spending money when he and his peers are under attack in the manner we are.

Its honestly an absolutely scandal that, in this day in age, the country's "leading" or "best selling newspaper" can't provide its customers with honest, unbiased, and truthful reporting.

Shame on them, shame on the writers and shame on Scotland as a country.

I agree entirely with what you are saying and I share your concerns there's too much talk and not enough action going on here and at a time when it really should be the opposite.  Clearly our enemies are way ahead of us in terms of being proactive  as you put it and that's  a trend that has to stop.

Personally speaking  I firmly  believe unless we make real inroads into reversing the influence these people currently exert  over mainstream media then we really will be seen as second class citizens in our own country. Thats a thought everybody connected with this club needs to think about very carefully.

How they are trying to put singing against fighting is insanity.

Rangers chief Stewart Robertson insists he'd rather fans were singing than fighting

THE Ibrox club are angry at the focus being placed on the singing of the Billy Boys as chaos ensued in the aftermath of the Scottish Cup final.

Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson

RANGERS chief Stewart Robertson last night insisted he’d rather fans sang offensive songs than battered each other to a pulp.

The Ibrox club are angry at the focus being placed on the singing of the Billy Boys as chaos ensued in the aftermath of the Scottish Cup final.

Robertson condemned the singing but has pinned the blame for the Hampden scenes of shame firmly at the door of Hibs.

He revealed the Easter Road club have been in email correspondence to express “regret” at the mayhem that followed the end of Saturday’s showpiece.

Rangers MD Stewart Robertson helps launch Club 1872

Thousands of Hibs fans invaded the pitch as their team celebrated a 3-2 win and their first Scottish Cup triumph in 114 years.

However, joy quickly gave way to thuggery and violence as Rangers players and backroom staff were attacked by rival supporters.

The SFA and Police Scotland have launched investigations, but Rangers are dismayed at the attention on their supporters’ singing as chaos ensued.

Their fans belted out the banned anthem the Billy Boys as Hibs fans streamed towards their end of the ground, goading and taunting the Championship winners.

Dozens of Rangers fans also jumped over the barriers to attack Hibs fans in retaliation, but Robertson insists it could have been so much worse.

He said: “We’ve had an email from Hibs, acknowledging and regretting what happened. When the final whistle blew, Hibs fans come over the top, ran up the pitch to the halfway line and attacked our players.

“They continued running up the pitch and actually goaded, taunted and provoked our fans. It’s just not acceptable we have players and staff attacked at their place of work.

“If I recall correctly, the Billy Boys was sung after the Hibs fans came on to the pitch. We don’t condone that kind of behaviour.

“However, if I had a choice between the fans singing a song or piling over the wall into a pitched battle with the Hibs fans, I know what I would choose.

“That doesn’t make it right, but you have to put it into context. I’d rather have that than two or three thousand piling over the wall and we have a riot on our hands.

“In our dressing room you saw how shaken the boys were by the trauma caused by these events. Every one of those players coming off that pitch was pretty badly impacted by what happened.

“We took the decision just to get out of the stadium, not because we couldn’t guarantee the players’ safety, but because nobody could guarantee the players’ safety. I hadn’t seen anything like that in my life - and Mark Warburton certainly hadn’t seen anything like it.

“We’re now going to step back and let the investigations take their paths. We need to wait and see what comes out of that, what went wrong. Then we can progress discussions.”

Robertson was speaking at Ibrox yesterday at the launch of Club 1872, an independent group representing the united interests of Rangers supporters who were previously members of a range of fan organisations.

They have wasted no time in calling for the resignation of Hibs chairman Rod Petrie, who claimed in the immediate aftermath the behaviour of his fans was a result of “over exuberance”.

Robertson has also taken issue with that assessment and while critical of his own fans who came on to the pitch to fight, he still maintains a degree of justification for their behaviour.

He added: “I don’t know when Rod made his comments. It struck me from what I saw that it was very clear what had happened. Whether he was aware of that or not, I don’t know, but I was surprised at the comments made on Saturday evening.

“It seems very clear to us what had happened - and some Rangers fans let the club down as well.

“We don’t condone any act of violence in football and some of our fans ended up on the pitch, but you have to go back to the provocation, the taunting and the goading. “I’ve seen some of the footage from close up and they felt threatened. They saw players being attacked by the Hibs fans. Let’s not forget that the Hibs fans came over the top.

“The Hibs fans initiated everything that happened. The Hibs fans ran towards them. But the investigations will inevitably lead to some of those fans who were on the pitch being punished and we will take appropriate action against those fans and do the right thing.

“There’s a responsibility on the authorities. There’s a responsibility on football clubs. There’s a responsibility on everybody who goes to a football match to behave in an appropriate way.

“Hopefully, the investigation will identify is what went wrong. Can I just say congratulations to Hibs on winning the cup? It was obviously a big day for them after 114 years. They deserved their victory, so well done to Hibs.

“But why were their fans allowed to come on to the pitch and attack our players and staff? How can we prevent it happening again? Nobody wants to see those scenes.”

EDITOR’S NOTE: In an earlier version of this story we wrongly wrote Stewart Robertson had "condoned" sectarian singing. This was an error on our part. The word, of course, should have been "condemned". We fixed this on Friday morning as soon as it had been spotted. We apologise for our mistake.

The clear editorial direction from the Daily Record today was that the Rangers Managing Director was excusing or downplaying illicit singing.  Thats what they were trying to peddle.

This interview dominates the backpage and is also advertised in the header of the front page.

Throw into the mix they also "mistakingly" wrote "condoned" the singing, instead of "condemned".  It's easy to correct an article online, but i wonder if it went to print with the "honest mistake" in there.

Posted on the SR interview thread that he was on SKY there talking about removing STs from those on the park when questioned about life time bans of bears causing disorder on the pitch. Says we have removed more STs than any other club in Scotland and it's "what we will do".

If they do that then he and the board are f*cking shite bags.

Those heroes that took to the pitch shouldn't be banned or have their season tickets removed. Their quick thinking and preemptive strikes prevented more blood being spilled.

I think it's ridiculous as I said that singing is deemed as big an offence as punching someone what world do we live in?

I'm sorry but I would rather have the Rangers fan staying in their seats and stands singing a song than what would they have preferred that the rangers support didn't simply stand and sing but all silently ran onto the pitch and attacked the Hibs players, would that have been better than singing a wee song???

If singing is our worst weapon then that's fine by me.

A young lad got a 4 month custodial sentence for singing the Billy Boys.  Let's see if any Hibs fans get anything close to that for what happened on Saturday.

I believe the club know that PM is toxic to some of our support, hence the reason he's not really in the public eye anymore.

I've no issues with him but if there's a time for him to resurface then it's now and it shouId only be to publicaly cut ties with the record.

If he does that then maybe he can start to distance himself from the ridiculous statement regarding the courageous reporting.

On a similar note, have the SoS commented on the bhigot journo and her piece of fiction yet or are they afraid it will diminish their air time ?

The board need to tread very carefully, those Hiv fans were just seconds away from charging into the Rangers end and the carnage that would've caused. The only thing that stopped that was the Bears getting between them and the stands.

Will 1872 be all consuming whereas the websites and Facebook pages of all the affiliates such as SoS etc are closed or deleted?
