De boer worries me a bit because like Warbs his sides have a very set way of playing which without the players/money will make it hard to compete with savco

Would their sides beat the taigs?

I dont care about Europe. Win our league every year and we take as much as we can from Europe.

Sean Dyche would fit right in at our club, he can't get an away win either.

Dyche would be class here imo, he sets his team up to be hard to beat but not in a way it's shite to watch, would chop ma left bollock off to get him in next season.

Its the same rubbish on all threads...

People cant grasp the fact we are skint...in terms of history we are unmatched but currently we are the equivellant if a League One/Lower Championship team in England...is De Boer or anyone of that calibre going to go near  us...no

Same as RVP, Berahino and Scot Hogan were never going to sign

Time folk got there heads out the clouds

Calderwood? Davies?

Would rather have warburton :duh:

Why?

Calderwood is a good manager and is known to be very keen on modern coaching techniques so he wouldn't distrupt the good work Warburton has done in the background. In the interim I see him as a good option, but it's just until we get a better fit manager during the summer.

We absolutely should be aiming higher than a manager like Rodgers, even if it cuts into our transfer budget.

We should be linked with managers like Prandelli, Schaaf and Marcelo Biesla.

We'll probably be linked with Gary Rowett, Lee Johnson and Mike Phelan.

We'll end up, sadly, with McInnes, Davies or Tommy Wright

Every time I switch my laptop on I think about starting a new thread called  " is he gone yet ".  He is a most likeable guy but I think most of us have come to realise he is not the man to take us forward. I can see why McInnes is favoured by some, especially as we're not liable to attract a top continental manager, and seeing the team he has assembled I don't think he would be a bad choice. However, in the long term we require investment to get even close to the other mob and I don't see where that's coming from. Without a rich individual stepping up I don't see any way we can compete in the immediate future, hope I'm wrong.

This is about Jimmy Calderwood, I have no idea why you lads have so much against him;

23-10-2015, 13:24

I see he was at Auchenhowie this morning, is he being lined up for a role with us?

Jimmy Calderwood was always a manager I didn't mind too much considering and thought he done not too bad at the clubs he was at. Better than your Mixu's etc, the managers that seem to get a club regardless of how p*sh they are.

Very curious as to where this has come from. Has he applied for a job that we've advertised? Interesting.

He was doing some scouting for us last season FoC, I believe. Perhaps continuing with this?

It should be noted that he spent quite a bit of time at Auchenhowie when Dunfermline manager, when Advocaat was in charge.

Remember hearing a wee story when Bud was at Birmingham City & Calderwood was there at the same time ,bud asked John Greig to give Calderwood a trial , he did & they played behind closed doors ( cant remember who against ) & Rangers won 7-1 & Calderwood scored but was never offered a contract , i think he went to Holland shortly after

Mark McGee can get work in Scottish football, but Calderwood can't. Every club he's been at in Scoptland has punched above their weight

I've said it for years. If I was in charge of a diddy team in Scotland he would be the go to guy. He always overachieves with his teams. A under rated manager at this level imo. I said to my mate years ago (who is a st midden fan) that they should go for him but they went for Gus then Lennon then Tommy Thaig.

As another poster said, Warburton was asked about him in today's press conference and it was mentioned Calderwood was just passing by while there was a coach up from Liverpool FC observing the set up.

The Liverpool guy is probably more interesting, have to wonder if there are any youths at Liverpool who may join up in January or next summer.

For whatever reason Jimmy Calderwood has become a bit of a joke figure in the Scottish psyche (I blame Only an Excuse) :D...... but he genuinely is an excellent, highly regarded coach with a wealth of knowledge of the Dutch scene.
I'd be delighted if he was our Chief Scout in the Netherlands.

Having said that, after seeing the nick of him in Nicks Bistro recently, that's probably highly unlikely!

Correct was a great friend of a journalist (now deceased) whom I was friendly with. Always got tickets for Rangers visits to Aberdeen. You will not meet a bigger Ranger than Jimmy, his dad has a season ticket for many years. Jimmy knows football especially in Holland. In my view he'd do a great job as a scout or coach. How guys like McGhee get jobs and Jimmy doesn't is beyond me but maybe it's becaus he's never hidden whom he supports?

It will be interesting to see if anything happens but often in football too much is read into people turning up at training grounds for no other reason that actually just going to see a few old friends.
