Stunned that it will cost six figures to repair. How do clubs afford it in the first place @The Dude?

Took us eight years of fundraising and penny-pinching. It’s been a total game changer for us though. Old grass pitch was shite and the ground was dilapidated. Could never have had anywhere near the level of community involvement we do with the old set-up. Think there’s 20+ teams use it each week and we’ve had national youth teams hire it for training ahead of playing Scotland. The very thought that we’d have Germany’s U17s training at Westfield would have been utterly ridiculous 15 years ago.

is there proper CCTV there? if not, definitely worth the investment.

Can you not insure a pitch if it's worth that much?

It's a bit of a risk gathering up 100's of £ks to repair the pitch if the wanks can just come back when it's relayed and do it again.

Pitch is insured, that doesn’t cover the sums lost in gates receipts, pitch hire (both at Westfield and is having to hire other pitches for our teams to use for the foreseeable future), bar takings, pies etc. Then we’re also going to have increased costs because in things like fuel because every game is effectively an away game for us.

We also have ‘skill school’ stuff for kids during the school holidays but that’s also now gone up in smoke…

We’ve played at Stenhousemuir and a Linlithgow this week and while both clubs have been fantastic and given us use of facilities for free, we can’t simply expect that for our 20+ teams for however long we’re away from Westfield.

If we didn’t have a pitch like the one we do, we simply couldn’t operate as we currently do. It would be a senior team and - maybe - a 20s. Just now we have teams in every age group from 2019s upwards. No pitch, no football. That alone makes it worth the risk.

There’s some but it’s hard to cover the full ground without it becoming a bit of an unnecessary expense. Fwiw, we’ve been in the ground since 1966 and this is the first time we’ve had any real incident of serious vandalism

Albion Rovers rebrand to Shamrock Rovers Coatbridge bid revealed as consortium call on current board to resign

A group of UK, Irish and US investors had a takeover bid turned down last summer but are still seeking to acquire the club after Rovers were relegated from the SPFL

A consortium aiming to take over Albion Rovers and rename the club Shamrock Rovers Coatbridge to 'tap into the town's Irish heritage' has called on the current Cliftonhill board to resign after overseeing the end of the club's 120-years in senior football.

Rovers were relegated from the SPFL last week after losing the Pyramid play-off final to Spartans and will now play in the Lowland League next season.

But it is a situation the 'Project Phoenix' consortium claim would never have happened had Rovers not rejected an initial takeover bid last summer.

The consortium still aspires to take control of Rovers and rebrand the club to reflect what it believes is the heritage, history and culture of the town's demographics, as part of a multi-million pound plan.

But they also admit they may acquire another club and become a local rival if Rovers continue to snub their plans.

Their project includes building a new 10,000 seater multi-purpose entertainment arena in Coatbridge within five years of rebranding the club to Shamrock Rovers Coatbridge.

Washing money in Coatbridge behind a football club is a weird flex

Reeks of criminality that

Still washing money via trophy centres is also something similar minded teams have done in the past, helped them sweep the paedos in their employ
