It was a stonewall penalty  simply because the player wasn’t making a slide tackle.

He was making himself bigger by going to ground.

Outstreched legs and arms to block a cutback.

Penalty every day of the week.

The important bit is he wasn’t slide tackling anyone. 👍

The  rules state if your arm is supporting you in anyway wether from a fall etc, then it is deemed a non penalty, goldson got away with an even dodgier one away to hamilton in the cup

I didnt think it was a penalty then and i didnt think it was yesterday

The rule that talks about supporting the body from a fall etc. Which rule exactly, and  what exactly does the rule refer to in the "etc" part?

At this point he knows the low cross is on for the front post run of Morelos.

He slides in using his whole body, which includes his arms, to block the cross.

Its a penalty.

Correct. He makes his body bigger by use of his arm, which is the part that makes contact not his chest as he and Sportscene suggested 😂

Spot on.

If a low cross is going in and you make yourself bigger by sliding to block then it’s deliberate. It’s a pen and a yellow card.

Im not surprised certain people working on the biased BBC don’t want to admit that.

Very odd too that Sportscene debated a pen we didn’t get and didn’t debate a pen the Torbetts did get for a dive.

Agenda driven tarrier shitshow.

Their 1st looked borderline offside, never showed a decent angle and just glossed over it saying he'd "beat the offside trap".  Defender was raging at linesman.

It's how they roll on that programme.

Seen that mate.

Even if it was onside it was borderline and they didn’t even blink about it.

Probably the most agenda driven highlights show anywhere.

A clear penalty but chances are we would have missed it anyway.

I don't think it is a rules problem more a problem with inconsistency as officials interpret the rules differently.

So it is a rules problem then 😆

The very fact I'm quoting rules is because folk say its paranoia or that handball needs to be intentional.

I think we'd all like rules fairly imposed so this helps that in what actually isn't a difficult decision to make.

Simple game over complicated

Penalty all day long.
The debate would be if it’s a yellow as I don’t think it’s deliberate, or is that in the rules as it must be a yellow.

Stonewall penalty as he would not have got to the ball other than with his arm, the ball was actually passing behind him.

And had someone in a Rangers jersey thrown out an elbow like the one Aribo got belted with, we all know it would have been red all day long.

Ditto the rugby tackle at the edge of the box.

We are refereed unlike any other team in the country.

The rules are posted above. He's either fallen or the arm is close to his body and not making his body unnaturally bigger. Those are probably the relevant factors to be considered that make it no handball.

Which is the one that the rules say make it no handball?

He’s not making his body unnaturally bigger because that’s where your arm goes when you’re sliding like that. That’s why the rule includes a provision for that.

I’m well aware of the rule.

It was definitely not a penalty. As JBJ said the handball rule specifically exempts situations like that.

It really doesn’t help, and is a fucking joke, that the pundits don’t know this.

Would be good if the ref's mic could go live like rugby to explain the reason for any controversial decisions, 1 way or the other. Say each captain can ask for three explanations per game to go public?

I think officials should be mic’d in all major sports tbh. It’s done wonders in cricket and rugby.

He is making the frame of his body bigger, his arm is out behind him not at his side. It's up to him NOT to have his arm stretched out from his body regardless if that's where he wants it to be. A bit like you raising your hands to protect your face if in a wall.

Theres no rule nor provision that covers extending your arm away from your body as it feels comfortable /natural if it then causes the handball.

Be like the fucking space shuttle feed, cutting out every time it came to a decision we should get but dont 😁

This decision you either see given or not to be honest. Wasn’t the most blatant ever since the guy was sliding aswell, just clutching at straws a bit here when we should be beating a team like Ross County comfortably.

Clutching at straws?  We won ffs. And anyways why does it have to be about the result, either good or bad, when discussing these types of decisions?

The guy was sliding to make it harder for the ball to pass. In doing that he used his arms. He wasn’t making a tackle and the player in possession wasn’t close to him so there was plenty time to get out the way. Penalty all day long.
