A flooring worker who lost his job has admitted sparking an armed siege with police officers where he asked for Brendan Rodgers to be brought back as celtic manager and demanded "a bag of cans". Shaun McConville lost the plot at his former home in Paisley last March after having to give up his work and struggling to come terms with the death of a friend. He smashed the windows of his neighbours' flats with a pole, armed himself with a kitchen knife, and bound the door of the close with a cable to prevent anyone from entering or leaving. He told officers he had hostages, threatened to kill the hostages and told police they would only get him out by killing him. And he caused thousands of pounds of damage to vehicles by throwing missiles at police officers below him in the street as they tried to talk him down.
