PromDeAnglais 6,825
This mob have a couple of recognisable players. Ben Sahar was at Chelsea and a few ex La Liga and Greek players. They also have Bittons cousin on their books. They kept clean sheets against Olympiakos home and away so it looks like they don't give away many penalties... sellik might very well come unstuck here. Other thing to note. Temperatures can easily top 40 degrees in Israel in August even at night it's usually above 30 degrees. Fry ya smelly bastards. The qualifiers split into champions and best placed sections. That's why even when Scotland had 2 places the team that never won the league basically ha no chance of the group stages as you would likely get a nightmare draw- see Celtic vs Arsenal a few years ago for example. don logan 8,240
By no means a foregone conclusion that they'll get through this tie. Being at home first isn't what they wanted too.
Irn Blu 221
From the Records site....doesnt seem like it will be as easy as some might think. "Celtic draw Hapoel Be-er Sheva and here's all you need to know about the Israeli champions. One of the shocks of the third qualifying round - aside from Dundalk of course - was Greek champions Olympiakos' defeat to Hapoel. Despite a 0-0 draw in Athens, many expected the Greek giants to still progress after travelling to Beersheba but Hapoel had their own ideas. Shir Tzedek’s 79th-minute winner sent the Turner Stadium absolutely wild with his left-footed strike as Olympiacos tumbled into the Europa League. They have three Bitons - and one Brown. Celtic have Nir Bitton and Scott Brown - but Hapoel have more than that in their armoury. Ben Bitton, Dan Bitton and Amit Bitton all play their football for the Crazy Reds, as does Vladimir Brown. Another name Celtic fans will recognise, but for more than just sharing a name with current Celtic players like the previous quartet, is Ben Sahar. The former Chelsea striker is just 26 but has featured for QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth, Espanyol, Hertha Berlin to name a few. They won the Israeli title and only conceded 24 goals. Hapoel reached the Champions League qualifiers after winning only their third Israeli top-flight title. They finished first ahead of Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the first stage of the Israeli league season and went through the campaign just conceding 17 goals and losing just two games. They then clinched the title by finishing top in the Championship round, a six-team mini-league, finishing two points above Maccabi and only conceding a further six goals. Their defence is clearly one to be reckoned with. That record, as well as keeping a clean sheet over two legs against Olympiacos, shows they know their onions at the back. They play roughly 30 miles from the Gaza Strip The city of Be'er Sheva is located rather ominously close to the Gaza Strip on the west coast of Israel. Hapoel play their football at the 16,000-seat Turner Stadium and that will mean an allocation of around 800-1,600 tickets for travelling Celtic fans. The heat may play a factor here, with the August average in the city hitting 34.7 degrees (94.5 fahrenheit) and the record high coming in at a stomach-churning 43.8 degrees (110.8 fahrenheit). Midfielder Ovidiu Hoban was excellent at Euro 2016 for his country Romania, and they an count on captain and hometown hero Elyaniv Barda as the lifeblood of the team. Barda scored 15 goals in 31 appearances last season and the striker will cause Celtic's backline problems - as well as attacking midfielder Jon Ogu who can link midfield and attack in impressive fashion. The aforementioned Sahar will be in and about the forward line as well, so there's no shortage of danger for Celtic in the two ties."
