A precedent has now been set

That incompetent clown in the middle tonight sent off Andy Halliday for celebrating and "gesturing" to the opposition fans after our goal.

Now, I've lost count of the amount of times an opposition player after scoring at Ibrox has cupped their ears or done the shushing celebration to the Rangers fans. Should we expect these players to get booked/sent off every time this happens in the future?

Then again, that would suggest there was actually some consistency and competence amongst our officials, which there clearly isn't.

Let's switch the logic slightly!

Would you expect every ref to get it wrong every time for evermore because of one fanny?

Unless the ref or the SFA come out and say it was the wrong decision, it should surely be expected that every player who does this should be booked or sent off

The problem here is the 'ref' has made an absolute baws of it yet won't be held accountable and wil be free to make a cunt of it again next week. The 'referees' aren't accountable for their mistakes and that is the problem.

I've said it before, nothing will change until these idiots are held to account.

I don't think OP wants this kind of booking to become a regular thing - he's just saying that if it's a booking for us and it stands then we should hold the authorities to dishing out the multiple yellows weekly to everyone we play for doing something similar.

We all know that latter will not happen but it's an expression of how bizarrely some things are against us when we are actively hated for being shown "favouritism".

It's hardly what Adebayor did a few years back.... and he merely got booked at the time, despite being lucky not to cause a riot.

Halliday made a fist pump gesture from the middle of the park, this type of thing happens in just about every game. Goalies for a start, often celebrate turning to the crowd (and why not, they've been getting abuse hurled at them for the duration), players often cup their ears or gesture shhh. It really is part in parcel of the game, and unless a player does something that is clearly OTT it should never be a booking.

Well it's just a ridiculous thing to happen, football is going to get so watered down and bereft of drama that fans interest will drop and the game will become less entertaining. Hopefully it's a genuine mistake, because if this is the way things are going god help us.

Obviously everyone's pished off at this decision, as am I.

We can only hope, despite the clamour from the SFA that refs are hard to recruit these days that his career is curtailed to the lower divisions. And of course his linesman.
