I voted for Derek as he has got aberdeen playing again. However statistically speaking nigel adkins has a 48.75% win ratio followed closely by Felix magath @48.06% we need someone who can hit the ground running and who would not be phased by the Rangers job.

Went for Magath, wealth of experience. If I remember right he normally starts out well enough before the players turn on him. Harsh training regimes seem to be the norm for his teams, could potentially be the kick up the arse the squad needs. Till the end of the season I reckon he would do what we require of a manager. Perhaps move him up as DOF after that.

McCall would be the best choice to get us in the Prem via the play offs and making a good fist of it straight away with his track record.

Now isn't the time to be fannying about with foreigners, unreliables or unknown quantities.

Add in Neil McCann as number 2 and could have a good wee partnership

We need to think long term....I believe someone like Felix Megath as DoF as he has a rep for being able to 'build' a club and Ian Cathro in charge of all coaching and selections.

Build from the bottom up, suffer for a couple of years and then take control of football (on the field) in this country!

The people on here asking exactly what cathro has done.

How about turn Dundee Utd into a profit making machine through their youth teams?

How about being assistant manager to a lowely Portuguese team and guiding them into Europe?

How about being assistant manager at one of the biggest clubs in Spain and having them playing good football and challenging for the CL spots?

We need a manager for long term now, we need someone who will overhaul the lot, training, coaching, tactics. You only need to read the interviews about Cathro from other people to see the respect he already has in the game.

Cathro should be our next head coach, but we need a director of football aswell. If reports are true about magath, he looks set to be our next DOF, get him in straight away to manage the team until May and then put him upstairs and let Cathro work his magic.

Believe me it will be worth it in the long run.

We don't have time to wait to see some pretty passing game instilled over years eventually getting results, particularly when our climate means no pretty passing for at least one month a year and probably much more.

We need instant results and an experienced manager.

Cathro is an assistant with no managerial experience.

We aren't just any old club dealing with normal circumstances. We operate in very unusual circumstances.

Our fans are also notoriously impatient and he wouldn't get the time to develop his philosophy if the results don't go his way.

Felix Magath has by far the greatest range of experience having been manager at some of the biggest clubs in Germany.

He has a reputation of being a tough disciplinarian who puts an emphasis on physical fitness along the same lines as Jock Wallace.

Hopefully the introduction of continental style training methods would give the team a boost that would increase the competitive edge that has been sadly lacking in some of our past games.

Personally I reckon Cathro would be a bonkers appointment.

As Oleg alluded too, our fans are very impatient and this is far from the ideal state to be in, appointing a raw manager.

McCall knows the club inside out, knows the countries football very well and comes across very well in the media. OK you can pick holes in his CV but you need to look by that, or at it with a twist as managing us is a different ball-game altogether.
