Is it a genetic issue

A lot of times it can be caused from being very fit to losing fitness/weight gain etc. In short rapid change of lifesryle can make the heart and surrounding arteries look like a blob of jelly.

I remember Sir Steve Redgrave having to go on a 5yr 'de-train' because his heart muscle was super prime and large in size and to just suddenly stop doing what he was doing woukd have put his life in serious risk.

Genetic illness is no respecter of fitness Im afraid.

Speedy recovery Nacho.

Correct, my budddy who was 28 at the time dropped like a stone during a game, dead before he hit the ground.  Guy was a non-drinker, non-smoker and one of the fittest guys I knew.  Also doctors said they could have examined him that morning and not predicted what happened.

Anyhow hope Novo makes a full recovery.
