I dont understand why people are so quick to put down our players...
If we are talking purely about footballing ability, any time I have seen Rossiter play he has shown more than enough to suggest that he can play at our level!
The memories I have of him is that he is a box to box midfielder, who is good defensively but can also pick a pass ( I remember him playing 2-3 brilliant slide rule passes between FB and CB) and then going by the Hibs game, he can get into the box and finish well.
There is nothing to lose by giving him a pre-season, see how he goes and take it from there.

Gregg Wylde played 48 times for Rangers, scored 2 goals and assisted 13 over a 4 year spell.
Michael Francis played 38 times for Rangers, scored 3 goals and assisted 6 over a 3 year spell.
Glenn Middleton has played 28 times for Rangers, scored 5 goals and assisted 5 in his first season with the club.
Apart from the stats, how anyone can look at Middleton and compare him with those 2 is beyond me...there are obvious comparisions, they are white, play out wide and have dark hair but their style of play is nothing alike.
Wylde had pace and a decent delivery but he was very limited, MOH is even more limited, both relied purely on pace to beat players and were very predictable but for me Middleton is much better on the ball, can pass, beat players and is good with both feet.

I agree you cant use stats to decide who is good and who isnt, but you can use them to compare similar players...I've no idea why you would compare the stats of David and Middleton for example, when they play in different roles, but it makes absolute sense to compare stats between Wylde, Middleton and MOH.
That being said, we weren't comparing their stats, I just gave them for information, but I would be interested to hear your interpretation of what my theory on players is?
You were the one that said Middleton was a Wylde/MOH clone and that their play style is identical, so I listed 3-4 things that Middleton does well that Wydle and MOH couldnt. No stats are going to prove that, but as you said the naked eye tells me that their style of play is not the same. Dont get me wrong, it is an easy/obvious comparison to make as they do have similarities, but when I think of Wylde I think of him putting his head down, kicking it past the fullback trying to beat him by sheer pace and putting a ball into the box. Middleton has much more to his game than that for me.
I also think we are being harsh on Wylde by the way comparing him to MOH! 😄

Reading the comments in this thread, you might as well put a torch to the entire youth system because no player will get a chance with the ever unsatisfied RFC support.

Who said anything about "spunking" another 3 year contract? He has a year left, he has shown promise in the time he has been here, the management team know him better than anyone, the management team rate him, but you think it would be a waste of money?
We have nothing to lose by giving him another pre-season and next year to earn a new deal.

Hastie is a near six foot tall powerfully built winger and because of the success of Bale and Ronaldo they are all the rage at the moment.
You only have to look at somebody like Oliver Burke who has had two multi million pound moves now just because he was big powerful and quick to see how in demand players of that ilk are.
We are picking up a young player with those traits for next to nothing. If we can develop him and build on those traits then we will end up with a valuable player both of the park and off the park.
    It’s a good signing IMO.
