Often wondered if it was possible to laugh out loud and want to die with vicarious embarrassment at the same time. No longer!

I thought the red card for Sterling was harsh at the time however on reflection the tackle was similar to the one the guy made on Lundstram when we played St Johnstone in December, which after VAR also resulted in a red card. In both tackles the foot was low but both were out of control and at speed. I will be surprised if the red gets overturned.

It’s one of those tackles that are a bit unlucky. He’s not tried to hurt him. If it’s your player you are calling for a yellow and if it is against you a red. Not the worst decision I’ve seen against us this season.

The Dessers foul was a great example of VAR trying to apply a black and white rule on a marginal foul without any consideration of context.
If Dessers was on him instantly and did that, it's quite different to Lagerbeilke dithering on the ball and causing his own problems.

I was the same, I thought it was a red at the time. Then I thought he might change his mind, but when you see the foot up, before coming back down and then through him, I think the ref was within his rights to say he'd got it right the first time. Let me put it this way, if it was the other way around, I'd be wanting the red.

When ref was called over, I said to my mate (we were watching on telly) I think this might be one of those times he sticks to his guns. My mate agreed. Like you, I've seen us get shafted a lot worse (Dessers "foul" in Old Firm game for example)

Sterling is unlucky in that he slipped a bit making the challenge and was subsequently a bit out of control. The slip is a mitigating factor, that isn't all his fault.
I think the red is on the harsher side and could (and probably should) be a yellow - if the referee gave a yellow I don't think VAR upgrades it.
That said, I don't think it's the worst decision ever given against us. I'm not sure there is enough "clear and obvious" in the replays for the ref to overturn it. It was wreckless enough to justify the on field decision, and the fact you can have some debate sort of means it is not clear and obvious.

Yep. You can do it with a ruler on your own, using that still frame. Set the ruler in line with 18 yard box and slide towards the goal. See what disappears from view first as you slide, the Hibs foot, or Lawrence's foot. The answer is the Hibs foot, after it disappears behind the ruler, you can still see TLs foot - just.
Offside.

What bothers me more than the 'non penalty call' is the reaction to our questioning of it. If they had just said, Willie made a call, it was wrong but thankfully it was offside so no damage done, I'd be ok with the apology.
The circling of wagons, the incessant press releases from SFA, Refs, celtic media pundits and the narrative around risking his livelihood is astounding. The hypocrisy from EVERYONE is astounding. For YEARS the filth have been publicly questioning the integrity of referees, they have previous for coining a ref, panning windows in, hounding them in the press, causing a strike! Recently they have been supporting conspiracy videos in the stadium, have their own TV pundit involved, AGM, 'penalty to Rangers' narrative and NOTHING has been said or done by the SFA or Refs.
But we question a blatant mistake on a penalty call, question the doubling down of the ref on 'not a clear and obvious error' and we're subject to all of this? Nevermind celtic are the only club, not once, but twice to receive public apologies from Refs in the press! Personal phone calls to their manager to apologise!
What the actual fuck is society today, does the truth even fucking matter?

evenstevens got a reaction from Polo in New striker needed
I'm in the Danilo will come good camp. He doesn't panic, doesn't rush, doesn't snap at chances - although right now that's to his detriment because I can think of 5 times that taking a touch, whilst composed, has allowed keeper to reset. I'd be more bothered if he wasn't getting the chances.

evenstevens got a reaction from goaaaal in Todd Cantwell
2 things for me
1. McCausland coming on was the right thing to do as TC clearly wasn't following instructions. Whilst on paper you'd move TC in to the No10 role and take Lammers off, and bring McCausland on, the manager would have been raging at him so made it a straight swap.
2. Of more interest to me now, is what happens next. McCausland must be a shoe in to start games coming up, so will TC get in front of Lammers for the No10 role. I hope he does. If he doesn't, and is 3rd behind Lammers and Lawrence for that role, it points to a massive issue between Clement and Cantwell because Lammers............just wow, he's bad.

Yass! Bring him home, bin Sima to the bench and lets get some goal contributions back into the side.

evenstevens reacted to Tiger Shaw in We need to have a serious conversation about Tav
We’ll probably never have a right back with the stats Tav has again In our lifetime, some won’t appreciate that until he’s gone.
ps he’s going to be a treble winning captain come may 🇬🇧😁👊🏼

evenstevens got a reaction from Blue Rino in Todd Cantwell
I agree, 100%. We were in a semi-final, dominating the game but was still 0-0. Cantwell had picked up a very unlucky yellow card. Sometimes managers get a sniff of something going wrong and take action, which IMO is exactly what happened with Clement. I'd have been raging at Clement if he'd kept Cantwell on and he'd got an unlucky 2nd booking, just because it would have been avoidable. Instead, and this is massive kudos to Clement, he had an instinct something might go wrong and removed Cantwell to remove that risk. It's also likely that he'd told Cantwell before the game (like he did last night) to empty the tank for 60 mins because he's still not fit enough for 90. So in the semi, it was taking him off 15 mins earlier than was planned, because of the yellow card.
I was also very pleased to see the pictures last night of him speaking to Cantwell when he came off - I know he does this with them all, but it's still good to see and hopefully puts to rest any nonsense about there being an issue there. Like the rest of the team (bar Lammers) Cantwell was excellent first half.
Saying that, wonder what would have happened if Wright had been fit
