  1. Oops... If I remember correctly Derek lost his place to Martin Henderson. Incredible really when you look back at the two players. Henderson wasn't in the same class. He had a lot of skill for a big lad, maybe because he started as a midfielder. Was played alone upfront too often ploughing a lone furrow. Had a very successful season at Man City as well. Him and Colin Stein were my heroes back in the day. Parlance, Parlane, King of Ibrox Park indeed.
  2. They interrupted, 'live on all mics' or whatever it's called after the 3pm kick offs to announce live 'breaking news' from Easter Road.... Sad sad people the BBC. We'll still be here when they're long gone.
  3. Not a bad call. Black back in , I was thinking the same. It's a big risk though for the manager. Can he trust him? If we were to go down to 10, would be game over. Wingers , Boyd, Mohsni (another loose cannon) , let's go for it.
  4. Thought Foster was one of our better better players and has been in the last few games since coming back from injury. He at least has the pace to get back and defend unlike Lee Wallace who was torn apart on the left side. For me that where our main problems stemmed from. He was very very poor and unfortunately everything seemed to be directed through him in the build up, therefore missing out players like Shields all too often and ending up with a poor pass or cross by Wallace resulting in him stuck upfield while they ripped us up on the break. It all changed when Ferguson came on and Wallace was played deeper in a more traditional left back position. I wouldn't like to criticise young Murdoch as he's been great for us, but I think he suffered from the left side issues and looked a bit affected by the occasion, big crowd etc. Add in Vukcic having his poorest ever game and then we really have problems. As for the tactics, why change to 4-3-3? Bad call by the manager.
  5. Spot on. Everyone talked about Motherwell players bottling it.Well they were full of players with big game experience whereas, as you say, many of our players were like rabbits caught in the headlights. No need to mention names obvious for all to see. Now I know that MacCulloch, Boyd and Black especially seem to get a lot of stick on this forum but what they do have is experience. Play with wingers on Sunday, Boyd in for Clark, MacCulloch in for the suspended MacGregor and fit Black into the midfield. And for a bit of insurance put Stevie Smith in for Wallace, more experience, a better defender and a major threat in dead ball situations.
  6. Far too lightweight in centre midfield. Seen him get bounced off the ball too many times this season. Probably burnt out as well. Not the kind of player you want on your side if you go a goal or three down. Head goes down much too quickly. Can't see him being dropped though. Wherever we end up next year I think he's one to move on.
  7. Incredible that the SNP have put him forward in Argyll. Had an SNP canvasser at the door the other day and I pointed out to her the folly of this. Low and behold she agreed and said they should have got someone more local ...... Thing is , I think the Nats could well have taken Argyll with the right candidate, however with this SNP candidate it looks like the Lib Dems could well get in again, hope so anyway.
  8. The best keeper we can find. Sorry but Cammie Bell is a nightmare at cross balls... How about young Christie at ICT. Played a blinder against them last weekend. Quite like the look of their wing backs as well, shinnie and the scouser.
  9. There's been a few , in fact most of them when the sun is bothering them. The most famous for me was Billy Ritchie, think he started wearing one when the hair started to go. A very under rated keeper, Billy was, at international level anyway.
  10. That we do not have one decent striker at the club. Miller doesn't need to prove himself and how they could justify taking him off and leaving the imposter Clark on is beyond me. Why oh why was Daly not on the park if we If we Insist on pumping high balls Into the box for defenders to mop up? All those corners.... All that happened was they'd hit us on the break.. Been safer just passing it back to our keeper. I've never seen anything like it, even at amateur level. Oh and Wallace is now officially one of the worst left backs we've had. One foot and too predictable and can't defend. Novo should have been given a shot. Would have played fir nowt and could have been let go if not up to it. Oh forgot Ally doesn't like players that are maybe gettin too popular with the fans, Negri, Novo ..
  11. Does not command his six yard box. He's lucky Moshni was able to do that for him. His distribution is awful. He had a bad day. Not sure what exactly Robinson did wrong....
  12. Drove a hundred miles in blindin snow and arrived with the game 15 minutes in. I too left the Sandy Jardine stand and walked with my two boys round past the Broomloan and on to the car park. Never saw anything going on. Only saw 10 minutes of the game but the atmosphere was electric. In fact for a change there was an atmosphere.
  13. I think you've hit on the main reason we need new coaching staff. The players are not doing it for their manager. The only time I saw 100% commitment last night was in the 2 or 3 minutes of injury time after going a goal down. If they had started the game like that we would have had a cricket score. The spine of the team is very very poor, Simonsen, Mohsni, McCulloch, Black, Law, Boyd / Daly. Do feel a bit sorry for Black and Law as whats behind and in front of them is abysmal. Why not play two central defenders in the middle of the defence? Now there's an idea Ally... McGregor, Zaliukas etc etc
  14. John is an absolute gentleman. I bought his white Audi 80 Sport off him back in the early nineties. I answered his ad in the paper and as he only stayed 5 minutes away I nipped up for a look. He showed me the car and invited me in for a cup of tea. He seemed a really nice guy and was a bit embarassed when his wife asked what team I followed . When I said Rangers she said, ' my John played for the Rangers' proud as punch. He said ' oh be quiet the lad will no remember me' but I did and I think he was quite chuffed. I hardly looked at the car, never even haggled and gave him the cash there and then. I think he still blames himself for that game. Really good to hear he's still going strong, must be a fair age now.
  15. Have seen him do it a few times now. Somebody needs to sit him down and explain to him that he's playing for a big team now, not Hearts, not ICT, but Rangers, The Rangers and getting pelters from the fans is part of the job. i remember ally having plenty of experience of that so surely he can sort him out. To be fair he's a good player but I don't think he really get's it re who he's he's playing for.
  16. Actually putting Miller in midfield is maybe not a bad shout. He's a better footballer than Black, Law or Hutton and on the occasions he dropped back yesterday did more than that 3 put together.
  17. No. He doesn't deserve that after all he's been through. Like any other manager Ally's job is performance related. Not many managers lose their jobs before failure or a bad run. He faces his biggest challenge yet and come Xmas, if we're not sat top of the league then the board will have to act. It's critical that we're back in the top flight next season and even if Ally does succeed no doubt the oot brigade will still want rid. Over reaction yet again after last night. Like any other wee team that comes to Ibrox in a cup game they were right up for it and while we were far from convincing we won the game and that is the aim after all.
  18. Waddell wanted rid of the old guard. Wee Willie was only 27 - 28 and should have been in his prime. Waddell preferred Tommy Maclean. Henderson 29 caps, McLean 6....
  19. Was at Ibrox yesterday and renewed my three after a 200 mile round trip. I think the fact that cards are not accepted has also had a major impact on sales. Supporters live all over the UK and paying by cash is a problem. On that basis I'm hoping that as the season starts these figures will increase considerably.
  20. Eventually got through this morning and spoke to some woman who seemed to be talking in code...... At the end of the conversation I said to her, 'what you're saying is that I have to go in person to the ticket office to purchase a season ticket and it's not possible to do it on the phone ?' Correct she said. So there you are, it looks like an early start tomorrow morning. I think you can still purchase on line but only at the full price, ie, no juveniles or concessions.
  21. Just got through on the hot line and you can't get tickets via phone etc... So ffs a round trip of 200 miles to get a season ticket. Thought they might have done the finance option via the phone or post a cheque etc... The whole situation is totally bizarre especially when Wallace has declared we are now on a sound footing and can move forward...
