Regarding signings, Paedo fc have gone out of their way in the past to sign players we're courting to try and embarrass us. And, considering the links others have mentioned re Barton's soft spot for them and, to some extent, his past antics, i wouldn't be surprised if the paedos tried such a coup. However, i think Joey's respect for Frank, and his post wain maturity, plus the fact that Paedo fc are currently in limbo re a manager, all of these would seem to indicate such a coup is a no go.

The difference is in the nature of the change. (btw i'd call it the David Holmes era rather than the Souness era) 1986 came like a F-5 tornado suddenly ripping through the football world. Warbs is a tactition. There's no way he would uproot his midle aged wife and family on the risk which, to an outsider like Magic, we were a year ago. We are no longer a 'risk' to Warbs. He knows the potential of Rangers and he is one of us now. If treated properly he could be with us much longer than his current contract. Britain is a small country. With the resources of our club, a home should be bought for him here along with regular transportation provided to his wife and kids to their other home down south, making it unnecssary for his wife to break all the ties she's made over the years.

Currently Rangers and Mark are a perfect match for each other. The fabric of the epl with the 'star' ethic of its players is at odds with the 'team' and 'work' ethic central to Warburton's system. Warbs does not yet have enough experience to successfully integrate 'star' mentality players so prevelent in the epl into his teams, and his system needs tested in europe. I think he knows he's not ready for the epl and why another 5 years at Rangers winning the spfl and implementing his system in europe is perfect for him and us.

I don't think it's possible to 'hate' and respect something at the same tme. That the things you hate about the hivs preempt respect. ..eg. if a paedophile lives on your street which you hate, wariness of him is critical but this doen't include respect for him precisely because of what he's done. Same for the hivs. What they've done pre-empts any 'respect' - which has nothing to do with being wary of them or the danger of underestimating them.

We have a young squad. Big teams with successful managers today are extremely careful with game time during a season with their young players, currently we don't have that luxury. This, for the most part, accounts for recent performances. It's compounded by having a small squad. The long break gives our young players much needed recuperation time. They will be unstoppable on cup final day.
