Mental how you can look at Duk and view him as a big man up front let alone look at him and think he’s anywhere near good enough for Rangers.
Agree with this. Seems good on paper due to numbers but the eye test against us last year when he missed the two chances was enough to put me off. We have sakala to do that job against dross. We are the sheep’s cup final and he missed two chances to bury us. He’s not a ‘killer’ at big moments, again similarly to sakala, he’s would not be good enough for us in the big games.

I agree he shouldn’t be first choice with Ridvan there. However, having him as back up for when we are chasing games and need someone to come off the bench and deliver balls into the box might not be the worst idea, especially with the rumoured striking targets Beale is going for. Having said that I am the worst for labelling him a shite bag at any chance he does something wrong. Not fussed either way if the wages work and he’s happy to be second fiddle.

If we want a big physical number 9 that knows where the goal is, we'd be better with Lyndon Dykes and save the money for the pacey, technical guy we all want.

I think he’s shit as well but I think we need to give him another few months under MB to see if there’s anything there. The price tag doesn’t help as many of us can’t see beyond that either at times and if he fails (hopefully not) it will be used to rightfully attack Wilson.
I’m all for being wrong and him being class obviously. Just canny see it.

I thought he looked ok in the West Ham friendly but he is absolutely abysmal.
He must have had a good run of games when he was watched before we signed him because nobody could look at him now and think there is a player there.
Cant actually believe how bad he is
I said the same leaving the game with my old man.

Matondo is right up there with the worst money this club has ever spent.
An awful footballer
I always feel like I’m being harsh on him because I obviously want him to do well but he is honkin. Nothing to cling on to that there might be something there except pace. Even at that he doesn’t use his pace when he has that chance to knock it and go into space. There was a few times that was on yesterday (and it won’t be in the SPL) and he never took it. Drives me wild, no point having pace to burn and not using it.

Porteous is a player the fans would end up loving . A total wanker and a wind up merchant to the teams he plays against .
I canny get onboard with it. He’s a bellend. Would be an utter let down in important games. Said before Ian Black MK II. At the time I’m sure the same was said about him.

But Porteous isn’t made of crisps so I don’t even get or understand why you brought up Souttar tbh.Somebody brought up what positives they thought Porteous would offer and you waded in by saying that’s what people said about Souttar but the only reason Souttar hasn’t brought those elements is because he’s injury prone, it’s not through a lack of ability, which it looked like you were implying.
Porteous would also bring several of the elements we expected Souttar to bring, because he’s a better player than some people on here want to give him credit for, but he doesn’t come with the injury problems that Souttar did.
So yeah, you bringing up Souttar as a comparison is a bit pointless because the main reason why Souttar hasn’t made it here is his injuries and that doesn’t even apply or relate to Porteous because he isn’t injury prone.
He porteous not done his knee before ? Could be wrong but I’m sure he did.

His stats are decent enough. “3rd best for aerial duals” is something we badly need. A lot of teams target us from set piece.
I’ve not seen much of him. Thought he lacked a hard of pace. And switches off mentally (as well as doing stupid things). Maybe he can improve under a decent coaching set up.
Type of player that will do the basics really well then be at fault for losing his man or getting sent off.
Think he is on 5 bookings already this season, pretty much nailed on for a red card at some point with all the hype/pressure surrounding his contract. I remember hibs being beat recently by someone (can't mind who possibly St Johnston) and him being at fault for both goals - both goals being beat in the air. I said a few posts ago I haven't seen a lot of him either but do not think he does the basics well enough to consider him being a player worth looking at. I still can't understand the hype and think its mostly self generated.

Yilmaz is injured and Borna is still away. Will be someone filling in at left back.

I can see the attraction for Porteous from the club from in terms of euro squad, free transfer, international, decent age & number of games/experience.
Not speaking for anyone, but, in terms of a fans point of view, he doesn't fit the mould for me. Tried on numerous occasions to do our players (Coulibaly, Borna, Aribo & Morelos from the top of my head), generally a wee wank and most importantly he's not as good at football as he thinks he is and Scottish football want him to be. Granted I have a small sample size of viewings V Rangers but he has never been a stand out, he will always be the player I would target to play against.
He falls into the Ian Black & Joey Barton bracket. It's a massive no for me.

I think he’s secretly laughing too.
This is bang on. The fact we are effectively relying on him to be our RW answer highlights how fucked we are. He may be a really nice guy but he's disgusting at football.

Hassenhuttl doesn't have the character to manage us.
Don't know a great detail about him, other than a few massive pumpins. From the little I have seen of him, his character probably reminds me of Gio. Not what we need right now.

Kent had another shocker but Matondos cameo made him look a superstar. 10 million between the pair of them FFS.
100%. I'd still be happy for him to sign a deal. He, along with the rest of the squad, looks miles off its fitness wise. Get someone else in and get the team fit and organised. Kent even if he was poor knocked his pan in and doesn't look like he is close to being able to do that now.

It's becoming more evident that the board aren't going to sack him (which they should do), they surely have to come out and back him. I know it's not in their make-up to say anything and usually do so after the horse has bolted e.g., Australia and champions league ticket pricing. For me and most others I've spoken to, the horse has well and truly fucked off and they need to say something, even if it is backing him. The usual standard silence from the board is not an option here. We slaughtered them for shark-gate but my fear is we end up with something similar and it should never get to that point.

Was he not going to be included as a home grown club trained player for Europe or did he not count as he was U21? If he did count it leaves us in the shit squad wise.
