  1. Barring a couple of more additions (hopefully a striker and an attacking MF) I think he will be working with what we have. Some of them are capable of playing in a number of roles/positions, but I don't see us getting to the point when we 2 players who can naturally fill every position in the team to be honest. But I live in hope. One thing is for sure - it will be an improvement on last season's team. Of that, I have no doubt.
  2. They had their fair share of good fortune but to be fair, the fact we were shocking was the biggest advantage they had.
  3. I'm looking forward to the game v Burnley. I hope that we see a sign of things to come even at that early stage.
  4. He makes a valid point regarding how standards at the club as a whole have slipped and yes it would have been better if they had all had a personal meeting to confirm the fact that they would no longer be required. However, I wish the players who failed so spectacularly last season would just accept the fact that they did not perform to a level that warranted a new contract being offered. I also wish ex-players would not indulge in providing support to their public complaints - the fact is the majority of them has already left the club much earlier in the season and had capitulated - remaining there only in body. Their spirit and minds were somewhere else.
  5. It will never happen. There is absolutely nothing he could contribute that isn't already in place, or available from someone vastly more suitable. In no way does he fit into the system or approach MW has described / is known for.
  6. How did this man find another club willing to sign him? Strange decision.
  7. Most of them (if not all) were well paid for their services, and to a man (for the most part) underperformed. Whilst I agree that up until the EGM the general situation at the club was far from ideal, it should not have been allowed to affect the players themselves - the fact that it did calls into question their professionalism. In any other walk of life you would receive criticism for under performing; I see no reason why those players released at the end of their contracts should expect different. Our final position in the league (as well as the shambolic efforts v Motherwell) is testament to the fact they were below the standard required or expected. They should move on, and look to resurrect their careers elsewhere rather than split hairs over what comments have been made, because frankly they deserve them.
  8. We need to test the water and put a bid in, otherwise, we should just stay clear of speculation. I much prefer transfer business to be completed in the background to be honest anyway.
  9. He works hard, there is no doubt about that, and also that he will get a fair chance under MW. But his first touch is very poor and I'm not sure that this can be improved significantly (even under a different coaching philosophy). Having said that, I struggle to understand how he scored so many goals for Queen of the South, yet didn't replicate it for us. I'm not sure he is our long term answer up front and expect MW to sign a front man, who will be a regular starter in the coming season.
  10. He lacks consistency in terms of his performance level, but could flourish if he can gain a regular place. Fitness levels were not great either last season, but a good pre-season could sort that out. I'm not sure what his best position is, but he has talent.
  11. No issue with Walsh and Murdoch, and possibly Hardie, but I'd really like to see Gallagher getting a run. Given the chance, I think he could be developed and become a regular in the 1st team.
  12. Very appropriate comments from a respected man.
  13. He really strikes me as a man who is determined to succeed. I feel very confident that he will deliver in his 1st season and get us promoted.
  14. Has the SPFL made any decision or comment regarding the pitch invasion by Motherwell fans, flare being set off or the dodgy guy in the crowd with the umbrella? I'm assuming there will be some punishment handed out but haven't seen anything from them as yet?
  15. It looks like a solid appointment. He has some good previous relevant experience and seems like the type who will make the correct decisions as we move forward.
  16. A great player for the club, but did not carry this talent into management unfortunately.
  17. Young Kelly may be worth looking at, and with MW clearly having an eye on bringing young players into the team he may well get his chance. I'm not sure he is 100% ready, but by default (given Simonsen and Robinson have been released) with only Bell remaining as a senior keeper I think he will get a chance. To answer the question posed by the OP; yes I think we need someone other than Bell.
  18. We need to look forward, not back, so it's a no from me.
  19. I think he will have his opportunity pre-season to prove he fits the model that MW wants/needs. I'm not sure that D McGregor will be comfortable playing within that type of role/model but I feel he deserves the opportunity to stake a claim for a slot. Having said that, I would expect at least 1 CB to be brought in close season.
  20. In the medium-term we should really be aiming for around 20 - 25% of the first team squad being produced from the youth set up. Some of the OP's rightly say that to produce quality youth talent capable of stepping up, you need quality coaching.. ... This will cost money initially, and take some time I suspect, but personally I see this as another way of making the club/team sustainable going forward. We can't go back to buying teams in their entirety.
  21. Very few, if any should survive this and still be in the squad next year. Embarrassment does not sum it up.
  22. Horrendous to watch. Stevie Smith is nothing short of incompetent; unable to go forward but persists in going square or back. On the rare occasions he gets to an advanced position his delivery is woeful. I've no idea why we persist with him or Mohsni (whose only contribution last night was to drag the defence down to his level), we surely have someone more capable? Law is an imposter. The sooner we have a new Manager the better, because Kenny is incapable of making basic decisions regarding team selection. To be fair, I don't believe anyone of the team played well, but some have been found wanting for a significant part of this season and should not be considered for selection - but time and time again they are placed in the team by Kenny. It's just not good enough.
  23. I suspect both will start unfortunately, although I don't believe either of them merit inclusion. Their time in the 1st team should be over.
