Honestly wouldn't risk Kent with our luck. Imagine playing a euro semi with that line up. I'd give itten a go to at least he's a striker

But yet many on here still back him.  6 yards out, McLaughlin would have been all over that.

He's a pish keeper now unfortunately. Him being kept in has played a big part in losing the league.

He’ll go down as one of the greats. But he isn’t the same player as last year. On his day he’s still world class. But there’s no time for sentiment.
His save percentage is down from 86 to 70%. (So that’s about twice as many shots getting past him).
His prevented goals was -.3 for the first half of the season. He barely makes it into the top half for any goalkeeping statistics (high balls collected, faults, saves, expected goals).
A lot of our dropped points he was culpable for.
    Ross county brain fart.
Both Motherwell goals he should have done better (younger McGregor would have come for the cut back. Beaten near post for second).
Dundee united corner he didn’t come for.
Hatate against celtic. Lucky not to be sent off against Aberdeen and concede a penalty. Then he was at fault for 2 goals vs Hibs in the cup.
Both v good keepers but on balance I think you have to go with McLaughlin whose all round game just gives you more now than the odd wonder save.

Wouldn’t have an issue with it, thought his ability to come off his line and claim crosses was a big positive

Has to be McLaughlin for me. Despite probably being the 2nd best keeper in my lifetime at the club, we are too vulnerable from crosses now with McGregor.
The thought of us playing West Ham in a Europa final, with the likes of Soucek given free license to get on the end of crosses in the six yard box already gives me the fear.

Felt a bit safer at corners and helps with playing out from the back but if it got to pens I wanted shagger on

Another point from yesterday was could see the defenders were a lot more confident in giving McLaughlin the ball than they ever are with McGregor.

McLaughlin for me. Been calling for it for most of the season.
McGregor still has a great save in him, but he’s also a total liability. McLaughlin’s dealing with crosses was excellent, and his distribution really put us on the front foot.
Can’t hang onto McGregor just out of loyalty.

Going forward , yes . So refreshing having a goalie coming out for crosses .
Scotland seems to play ' get the crosses in ' much more than Europe , so I'd be tempted to play McLaughlin domestically and Greegs in Europe, where his shot stopping has played a big part in our progress.

Pros - better with the ball at his feet
               comes out for cross balls
comes off his line for balls over the top
Cons - not as good a shot stopper

The fact that it could be his last game should not be a deciding factor or any factor in whether he starts or not.  The only factor is who GVB thinks gives us a better chance of winning.

    I’d choose McLaughlin going forward.
We seemed a lot less panicked playing out from the back. Playing against an aggressive press. And that filters through our whole play style.
Also much more assured from corners and crosses.
Mclaughlin much quicker footwork/coming off his line.
Mcgregor still pulls out a wonder save now and again that McLaughlin can’t. But also costs us a fair few with brain farts.

Back line looks better with the safety net of a keeper who comes to clear.

Apart from one cock up in the first half where he gave away a corner, I feel he is much better with the ball at his feet than McGregor.

A few heart in the mouth moments but the amount of times he came for the ball or punched it away can't be underestimated when you're under pressure at corners. Especially considering how poor we've been at defending them.

Good keeper and feel so much more confident with him at corners. He never has been, and never will be, as good as McGregor was, but with McGregor on the decline I think its maybe time to give him the jersey looking ahead to next season.
