Hearing this sort fo stuff, it really frustrates me the more I think about the previous manager. Shocking transfers aside, were we even focussing on the basics in terms of preparation, recovery, organisation and game plan? rather than complicating things with hybrid player shite and inverted 10s or whatever the fuck he was trying.
Michael Beale was too busy trying to be a genius that he forgot not to be an idiot.

Our scouting system has been terrible. 
Thankfully we've started tearing it up. 

Rather than spend 4 or 5 million on these types of players, the bigger question is why our scouting system seems unable to find them (or players of that quality and potential) when they are available for much cheaper.

This is true. Not one player in the first 15-20 mins got on the ball and dictated play. I would love if Clement could bring in a midfield bastard who drags the team up a level.
