watp72 54
Rothen ..... no pace, not impressed me so far, on this performance i would prefer to see Naismith out there. Hang on a sec mate, he's just signed. Will take him a while to adapt to the frantic pace of Scottish football for a start. Has shown some nice touches and flashes of ability. I wouldn't have started him, rather slowly bedded him in but he's out there and it is hard to criticise him on very first impressions. Um? Mendes had a bit of a good game when he signed did he not? Without actually training with the team Rothen has had some nice touches, and, a cracking free kic there, but, I guess he will take time to settle, rather than the impact Mendes had instantly (and Davis), but, he isnt impressive today, so, why jump on the guy like you have? Bit sad really Why have I jumped on the guy? (as in ace??). Apart from Mendes/Davis/Bougherra.... I can't think of that many to make instant impressions on first taste of Scottish football. Certainly not recently.

FFS mate, this is what annoys me about some fellow bears, if the guy isent Brian Laudrup in the in the first 45 mins then he is slated. You should read Papaguys thread about Rothen, he is not a "pacy winger" in the same way Beckham is not. You can only judge the guy on the performances you see, so far .. not impressed, doesn't mean he won't get better .. of course he will, the Scottish game is quicker than he is used to & he will take some time to adjust. I would have thought it better to introduce him to a game at home, in front of the home fans to provide the support. A game like this, against a young enthusiastic Motherwell team is more suited to the in-form Naismith. Certianly Stevie should feel slight agreived as he has done nothing to deserve him being dropped to the bench. Fair enough point mate. Personally i would have started with Davis and Mendes in the middle, with Naismith out right.
BlueSuedeSambas 54,378
I'm curious to see how that Moutaouakil that Motherwell signed from Charlton gets on. He's looking like a decent player. Certainly one to keep your eye on over the next few months.

rfc_no1fan 13
So many poor performances. Expected though, we cant play 4-4-2 away from home, it simply doesn't work Thomson for McCulloch, Naismith for Boyd at half time and Novo for Rothen after 65 mins Never going to happen though, Walter will stick with it till after the hour
Allzo 91
We've been the better team so far. Rothen has a fantastic left foot. Who is on the bench? I put the game on literally a second before kickoff. Why isn't Thomson starting?
FlippinEck 3,734
We are not putting enough pressure on them to get the ball back and are letting them pass it around, we need to get in their faces... our strikers are doing well and looking creative but arent getting enough chances, we need a bit more pace in the middle of the park I feel

demise 3,573
We need to wake the fuck up in the 2nd half. Sometimes theres too much space between the strikers and our midfield. Mendes should take more responsibility imo. Rothen has some good touches, but i`m not impressed. Our best player for this half is probably Bougherra. And Motherwell is awful team, they can`t even stop the ball . So lets put more pressure on them and get the 3 points today.

the goal machine 7,813
We need Novo or Naismith on for Miller IMO. He's not had a good game and I'd like to see him fresh for Stuttgart anyway. They would offer more. Come on Rangers!
disgruntled_bear 157
Too many players with there eye off the ball, Weir and McCulloch are having a nightmare. The 4-4-2 is doing us no favours what so ever, I expect Thomson to come on straight away to give us a bit of steel and leadership from the middle of the park.
