JograBear 1,074
You've got to laugh at those who see supporting Rangers as having nothing to do with politics. Whether you like it or not, or even realised, we've all grown up surround by it.Being surrounded by it does not mean you have to be part of it...big difference. McInnes87 18
never heard so much shite in my life. yes we are more than a club, but we are not a political party. you sound like you are reading from a script that someone else has written, why not voice your own views instead of others. the OP is known for his rediculous posts, dont jump on the bandwagon.we are a proud british club, but you don't have to fly the union flag, or be a protestant to feel part of Rangers. So much shite? I have stated above, nothing but fact fellow Bear. I also did not mention 'having to fly the union flag or being a protestant. Have a cuppa mate.I'm a member of the Armed Forces, my views aren't a script written by anyone else. My club and supporters pride in the Union is undoubted. I do voice my own views. I also put my life on the line to defend them.

minstral 5,375
Maybe some do not like it, but our club since i was a young boy were known as Protestant, Monarchist tradition and Unionist.

Bluepeter9 5,167
I'm all for letting everyone in to support us and all that, but why would they want to support this club? Surely everything about this club from the flag flying proudly above Ibrox, to the potrait on the wall, screams it's a proud British Institution. Everything these people are against and hate.I just don't understand how a nationalist Rangers fans mind works.I am glad you LET me support Rangers - Thanks! But who the fk derives their politics from the football team they support - OMG! That is as base as it comes.
theweebluenose 4,332
My political beliefs have fuck all to do with supporting Rangers, I am a Unionist but that is a broad church and my ideas will differ from many on here. However our club will always be identified with Unionism and that's part of why I love this club so much, I know plenty of lads who don't agree with the Unionist aspect of Rangers but most of them have respect that it has played such an important part of our history and defines us as a club. saintbob1969 1,459
George Orwell pointed out that to be a Nationalist was to be slightly mad. He went on to discuss Burma, Ireland, Spanish Civil War Nationalism, National Socialism and even Soviet Russian Nationalism. They are all in their ways moving away from genuine politics and policies towards something less rational, something closer to madness. And the mad can never admit to or see that they are mad.Rangers fans in the main I would hope are generally rational, suspicious of voodoo, hateful of theocracy, wary of overt Nationalism but comfortable with the best aspects of Patriotism and brotherhood (or sisterhood if you will). The SNP, we are beginning to realise, are a parcel of rogues with no wrapping, no policies, no morality, no idea. Their council tax freeze and their sectarian bandwagon and their destruction of education is unwinding to reveal a big bare arse. nemisis and Lord Trevelyan
I sat on Silver! 1
The SNP's (proposed) anti-bigotry legislation is a shambles and (I predict) will fall squarely on its arse. We shouldn't be getting too upset about just yet.As far as being a Rangers supporter goes - well I am, and a fucking good one at that, and that means I can vote for whoever I please - that includes the SNP!The English (bastard) governments have been sticking it up our Granny's holes forever, and now they're trying to stick it up ours and our ma's & da's too. But hey, that's a political debate.Let's talk about football - fuck politics and its association with religion or 'The Union'.Rangers is my religion and Ally McCoist is my God - until he fucks up once too many times that is!!!...WATP! Jela 2
Personally, I think it would be pretty stupid to let my political stance dictate what team I supported/let what team I supported dictate my political stance. I've been a Rangers fan since I was a kid. My political views developed years later.Spot on To suggest a nationalist can't be a Rangers fan suggests that nationalists are completely intolerant of other peoples views. I consider myself Scottish but I don't care if other people want to wave Union Jacks and consider themselves British. It's your own choice and ultimately politics has nothing to do with football. It would be irrational to hate any one nation. However, I 'do' hate what their governments have done to our country (Scotland) through its 'continuous' discriminatory economic policies. I've also lived in England for a significant portion of my life and I can guarantee you that the vast majority of their citizens don't give a flying f**k about us (Scots). That's all.
