I don't see how it was too far, it was the first EPL game in Merseyside after the Hillsborough files were released.

Everton were reaching a hand out to their neighbours and showing they were with them

Which i've stated they were, there'd be enough effected Evertonians to merit tributes.

Everton-Liverpool is an amicable rivalry - you have brothers where one is red one is blue; fathers and sons where one is red and one is blue - it's a brotherly rivalry and it's in no way surprising at the tribute they made and it would have been reciprocated if it was the other way round.

I'd be surprised if Man Utd fans later respected the tribute though to be honest.
