geronimoo 1,474
Nevin says of course there was a sporting advantage as Rangers were able to pay money to players that they otherwise were unable to affordAnd he bases this on?, for all he knows the players could have been happy with £1000 per week of Irn-Bru bottles but when we offered an EBT first they rubbed their hands and jumped for joy. Allanger 625
It's not ignorance. They are feigning stupidity so they can misrepresent the situation.This. They are at it and even the most levelheaded of the rabids ( if there is such a thing) are losing their composure due to their hatred
thebuur 2
I spoke with Nevin a few months ago. He is not at bright as he and others make out. Would not be surprised if he did not really understand it
BLUEDIGNITY 33,658
As chief executive of Motherwell Nevin oversaw them lose nine million in 2 years so I wouldn't listen to his financial acumen. If my memory serves me well he was blamed for 'adminstration errors' allegedly ! Spectre 1,663
And he bases this on?, for all he knows the players could have been happy with £1000 per week of Irn-Bru bottles but when we offered an EBT first they rubbed their hands and jumped for joy.But the point is it's irrelevant, he's failed to understand the decision, deliberate or otherwise which in short is that the only issue was non disclosure. The players would still have been eligible had the "side letters" been disclosed. It doesn't matter whether they were worth a pound or a billion pounds the players would still have been eligible. It's a failure to differentiate the issues of the FTTT (which he seems to forget we won) and the SPL commission.
kelvd1873 7,194
....I have thought many times of phoning up one of the radio call ins and correcting them but I just think they don't want to know the truth. The problem is the more these muppets pedal this shit the more it is accepted as fact....it's truly embarrassing and I would love to see the facts thrown in their faces by someone live on air but nobody in the media seems capable of stating the truth! Not having a go at you personally scarkev but your last paragraph is EXACTLY why you should be calling in and setting the record straight. If others won't say it we as a support need to start flooding the boards to stop THEM pedalling their shit!!
Blumhoilann 6,712
Maybe they're stirring the pot to get an appeal on the go.....oh where has all that sporting integrity gone?
baxfanalex 113
Pat Nevin and Cardinal O'Brien have a lot in common, not to mention that they're both disingenuous.Patrick Fitzkeiff and Keiff Fitzpatrick ?Surely not
Thermopylae 15,287
Just caught sport scene there and the presenter basically says he can't grasp how there was no sporting advantage and Nevin says of course there was a sporting advantage as Rangers were able to pay money to players that they otherwise were unable to afford. I'm just sitting wondering whether they are that thick or just blinded by hatred of us that they refuse to sit and properly read a short, simple decision. It's a complete failure from Nevin to understand the issue the commission was looking at and an ignorant or deliberate confusion with the FTTT issues. There was no sporting advantage because the payments (we'll call them that just for ease) being made were entirely lawful, just not properly declared, and had they been declared nothing would have or could have happened as there was no rule being broken. How can they not understand that not handing over a piece of paper does not give you an on pitch advantage when you would have had the same players on the same money if you had handed over said piece of paper.I'm beginning to think we should see these bastards in court
Fools Gold 488
The scum just won't listen to the facts, plain and simple. In fact, Jim Carey was asked to demonstrate how Celtic fans react to the logic regarding Rangers' situation.....

IanFerguson2012 123
The BBC in Scotland are hopelessly biased against Rangers. Pat Nevin didn't play for ceptic but he did train with them as a boy. Obviously was corrupted back then poor chap. The BBC chap and Nevin were both finding it hard to believe that having 11 players against 11 players was a fair way to conduct a match. weshallnotbemoved! 714
Pat Nevin isn't as clever as he makes out.The logic is flawed. It is like saying bigger clubs have an unfair advantage because they have more money to spend than the smaller ones.

I picture him looking for his glasses between camera shots only for the director to point out they're on his pokey wee rat face.
MikeBlue 136
Pat Nevin isn't as clever as he makes out.The logic is flawed. It is like saying bigger clubs have an unfair advantage because they have more money to spend than the smaller ones. This, basically is the point. Whether the EBTs conferred an advantage is as irrelevant as pointing out that having more supporters buying season tickets is an advantage. What matters is whether that advantage was unfair in that other teams could not use it and that is clearly not the case. chris182 6,316
I'm surprised at Nevin. Edmiston Drive 3,846
Time to move on, who gives at toss what some wee shit like Bevin thinks. One has to wonder if during his career every single £ earned was noticed for the tax man.Hmrc have been trying to prove for years that EBTs should any money be taken from them was income..........How many cases. have the won?And now an independent panel , still laugh at independent, hand picked by the spl and even the independent solicitors drafted in to be the paper gatherer have affiliations with sfa and immigrants. And they find nothing more than administrative errors, yes that's right administrative errors and fine albeit the largest fine imposed for admin errors! They actually state in their findings that no sporting advantage was gained, then the immigrants from the east come out and publicaly state their surprise at the outcome, well many would think it would have been more to their horror, shock and disbelief. So today we stand tall as we have always ..........so to those self righteous bastards and we all know who they are , I for one hope you suffer in the aftermath of your failed attempts and as you sit with no doubt your monthly and perhaps weekly meetings at the bank, just think about those that you used to cover the use of sporting integrity and how they would come back in their droves...........ha ha ha they made a cunt of the lot of you.So CG the ball is firmly in your court make sure you deliver an ace and make them squirm. five stars 1,631
There seems to be a change of tact by BBC Scotland regarding Rangers. Instead of the inaccurate biased reporting we have had from them in the last few years in news reports, they now provide a more accurate representation of the facts in article about us, e.g. No more new club pish. Instead they now use supposed experts to give their opinions who spout out the same sort of biased factually incorrect nonsense. In this way it allows them to still continue their anti Rangers agent but allows them to distance themselves from the opinions given by their "experts". That why they now have the likes of Britney getting lots of airtime to continue his lies.
