Turnberry18 3,204
He was the most outstanding player, emphasised by both internal and domestic individual awards, in a side that will go down in our club's history for what it won and also what it almost achieved.Yes, I agree that we were paid the right amount for him and found a great replacement in Bougherra, but you never understood the fuss? Are you delusional? Also, I'd love to hear your justification for suggesting that he wanted to leave.Rangers defender Carlos Cuellar is poised to become Aston Villa's latest summer signing after the two clubs agreed a £7.8million fee on Monday night, which invoked the release clause in the Spaniard's contract.Villa will now discuss terms with the 26-year-old but Rangers have gone a step further to claim the move was as good as complete, subject to a medical.Cuellar, who was outstanding for Rangers after joining the Scottish club from Osasuna last season, expressed a desire to leave Ibrox last weekend. His decision is a huge blow to the Scottish club, coming just a week after ahumiliating early exit from the Champions League at the qualifying stages.Cuellar was instrumental in Rangers' run to the UEFA Cup final last season and was named Scottish Football Writers player of the year.Rangers revealed they offered the player a substantially improved contract but it was declined due to his desire to move to the Premier League. We could have done with the money, but at the end of the day they were sellout shitebags. Wouldn't last a weekend in a Glasgow housing scheme. Fortunately Men of honour remained. True professionals. Players with bottle.

Non_Sucumbi 876
Baxter was a tremendous loss to the club and went to Sunderland all because stubborn men on the Rangers board would not listen to Scott Symon and offer Baxter an improved contract. IIRC he was after an extra ten quid per week.Even back then there was boardroom interference....
Shetland Bear 444
GazzaWrong time to sell. Big time. We may have won the league that year if he s stayed. Who knows? To be honest if we had Marco Negri that whole season, we would have walked it to 10IAR.
Turnberry18 3,204
Where is he Now then? You make a good point though. Is leaving Rangers for a bigger league a step up? So many have left to "better" things and it has gone badly wrong. I think playing for Rangers is vastly under-rated, because the opposition will put extra effort in and the players will get a game. DP FC 400
Willie Henderson. He was my idol growing up as a boy, always wanted to be that type of player. When you dream of playing for Rangers, that was the picture in my mind, down the wing, nutmegging Gemmill, cutting inside and slotting it low past Simpson.Could never really take to Waddell because of the way he was ditched, until he won the ECWC, then all was forgiven.
