Alec87 331
Have to agree with an earlier post that Ally although our greatest goalscorer is probably not our greatest striker. Boyd probably the most natural of all the strikers I've seen... eh ? Super has TWO golden boots ffs
minstral 5,375
Jimmy Smith 1928-46234 games and 225 goals, That ratio stands up against anyoneGood shout.
legalbeagle 3,734
Mark Hateley was a phenomenal, all-round striker. He scored spectacular goals, tap-ins, headers, twenty traders and had remarkable pace. He even for the ball from defending a corner into the opposition net, in three touches, has any other player ever done that?
tannerall 25,935
Big RC Hamilton 154 goals in a 164 appearances is pretty impressive.Though to be honest I have no idea if he was big or not. What about Big RC Jon Daly ?
theweebluenose 4,335
More than McCoist? Not even in the same ballpark for me.I only caught the tail end of McCoist's career really so I'm only going by what I remember, what I've been told by others and read etc. Ally himself admits that he didn't always make the most of every chance. Ally was by far a more complete striker - goes without saying.

theweebluenose 4,335
What about two Ulstemen Sam English or Billy SimpsonThe Sam English story is really a tragic one, his collision with Thomson had no intention yet he could never live with the guilt. The only one who insinuated it did was Maley - proof that innuendo and malicious comments are nothing new with Sexpest FC - Classless since 1888. FernandoR20 2,133
Watching Jeffers playing for us in the champions legue was probably the lowest point in my time of watching Rangers.

No.12 508
Prso, never scored as many goals as some, but his effort to the cause was superb, always 100%.My favourite Ranger in the last 10 years.
Thewhitesettler 2,712
I remember my big bro' & his mate arguing about best striker between Miller, & Forrest, in the sixties.Myself? I loved Colin Stein, the best striker I've ever seen.

Muirheadbear 1,483
Derek Johnstone, Bob McPhail, willie Thornton, Millar, Brand, Stein or Jimmy Smith????Take your pick really.I think these questions highlight how little recognition the older players get. For example - Boyd is getting mentioned a lot. Was he really better than Bob McPhail?
HuistraHairDo 12,512
well my Dad would say Stein, Brand, Torry Gillick or Willie Waddell, in my lifetime Hateley, R Fleck, Mols, Prso, Drinkell, if I had to pick one Mark Hateley would probably get the nod. I had the privalage of watching McCoist from the day he signed (think I was 5/6) and no one will surpass him. he was the epitome of being in the right place at the right time, something you can't really teach. good post.
