bluebear24 84
Just watching spurs v benfica. And I have just witnessed benfica using the same tactic that ally seems to use. Is this more of a common thing than it first appeared? Just thought it was interesting seeing another team work like this

JamieG54 812
Their coach must have signed up to Rangers TV
scarkev 3,540
It's the wrong tactics for usExactly. At this level the teams we are playing will rarely cut us open so to give them an opportunity top in us back and load the box at set pieces is just stupid....even here Benfica look like conceding from a corner! simplythebest 11,453
Exactly. At this level the teams we are playing will rarely cut us open so to give them an opportunity top in us back and load the box at set pieces is just stupid....even here Benfica look like conceding from a corner! We still look uncomfortable at corners much of the time even with everyone back
cumnockbear 2,446
11 defending at corners for us has to stop, simple as that, it's embarrassing considering the leagues we're playing in.
Clemdog 39,389
We actually kept Aird up field yesterday!
loyalfollower 1,543
Its a europa league match against really good opposition not Scottish league one against shite
cushynumber 25,178
Teams playing against us see dead ball situations as probably their best chance to score against us. This tactic invites them forward with no chance to do what these teams fear most - counter attack at pace. Its daft for us and we should bin it. topgoalie 637
Gotta agree;for the life of me i just cannot see the benefit to be obtained from thisThere is just no out ball, and you would be surprised at the miniscule percentage when goals are scored from corners. There are more teams using this so must have its advantages,i just cannot see them.? MasterD 7,436
Loads of teams do it. Ally didn't invent it.
quinty 1,445
How many goals have Benfica lost at corners tonight?
Dietspam 733
Totally different. We should be able to comfortably leave 2 men up. They will then need 3 back. I noticed Ally was leaving Aird up last night.
cushynumber 25,178
The point is nothing to do with the tactic per se , or who else is using it but the fact we use it against much much lower opposition. It makes no sense.
Bluepeter9 5,167
Just watching spurs v benfica. And I have just witnessed benfica using the same tactic that ally seems to use. Is this more of a common thing than it first appeared? Just thought it was interesting seeing another team work like thisQuite a few teams in the EPL utilise this tactic as well
pcbear 10,924
Its a rubbish ploy, even when our defender wins the ball heading clear its straight to the feet of the opposition, better teams would make it count, Templeton for instance wont be winning many clearing headers, fuckin stupid. STEPPS BOY 74,137
A ridiculous tactic we employ at every age level..
Drunk and disorderly. 14,511
They're only in Europe to copy the Rangers..... there to copy Rangers... oh there to copy the Rangers!!!!..........
quinty 1,445
Everyone back in the box and they would have cleared that
sendintank 35
I think it is quite common.I watch Cardiff regularly and they always pull everyone back,as do most teams i ve seen them against.Dont understand it myself,I ve seen teams like Barcelona and Madrid leave 2 up regularly, means the opposition will leave at least 3 back
BlueboyG 5,255
I see the SFA have been really busy doing coaching badges, dont see the point to be honest there are plenty on here if required
geronimoo 1,474
Against a Premier league club it wouldn't bother me as much, I would like to at the very least 1 player outside the box but I'm sure if they were playing a club from the Portuguese 3rd Div they would play it differently. siddiqi_drinker 14,635
Aird, Black and Templeton don't give you much at corners so why not have Aird & Temps on the half-way line with Black behind them. Opposition then need four men to mark them. A less crowded box also makes the keepers life easier - assuming he can leave his line?
CrackFox 245
seems basic football that if you put 11 in the box it leaves the opposition free to put their tall backs up for corners, plus no out-ball or chance of quick counter.Puzzled by the fact that Ally began leaving 1 up-field at defensive corners.Maybe the penny has finally dropped.
