there would need to be an appetite from the victim to pursue this though

Agree; what makes it a bit more interesting is a professional footballer is currently a client of the solicitors suing celtic, VB article also infers what happened in America was a cbc player that went on to have a career in football. could this be the same individual and if he's prepared to sue in Britain he could also pursue them through the American judicial system.

I've heard this mentioned a few times now on this thread, but is it even possible for the scum to be charged in a US court, assuming the victim was willing to sue?

edit: just saw the VB thread. :tu:

Each state has its own laws ...

https://victimsofcrime.org/docs/DNA Resource Center/sol-for-sexual-assault-check-chart---final---copy.pdf?sfvrsn=2

Statute of Limitations for Sexual Assault Offenses

New Jersey N.J. Stat. Ann. § 2C:1-6 

(c) { This para is referring to what they call the DNA exception}

An offense is committed either when every element occurs or, if a legislative purpose to prohibit a continuing course of conduct plainly appears, at the time when the course of conduct or the defendant's complicity therein is terminated. Time starts to run on the day after the offense is committed, except that when the prosecution is supported by physical evidence that identifies the actor by means of DNA testing or fingerprint analysis, time does not start to run until the State is in possession of both the physical evidence and the DNA or fingerprint evidence necessary to establish the identification of the actor by means of comparison to the physical evidence.

Sexual assault None

Other sexual offenses 5 years

Edit: Now got twitter and trying to suss it out

Me too, no idea how to get around it though.

Ideally would be best to expose this character to the highest degree.

Illinois attorney general Lisa Madigan has said that they are investigating 690 catholic priests for child sex abuse but church say there is only 185 involved, these figures for one location are staggering and although not directly linked to that scum club it shows you what a massive organisation you go up against when trying to bring justice to the victims.

If you have watched the movie Spotlight did you also happen to look at the end credits it is absolutely incredible the amount of cases against them around the world, the Catholic Church is a  peadophiles paradise.

I watched a documentary a couple of years ago and I don't know if the laws have changed on lawsuits against peado priests in the US, but the way they avoid large payouts is also disgusting, apparently it's not a federal offence in the US so the victims have to sue the archdiocese in whichever state the abuse happened to have occurred in, but here's the kicker, if that states archdiocese happens to be wealthy then as soon as it becomes known that a lawsuit may be pending then they move all the money to another states diocese saying it's a charitable donation leaving no money for the victims payout if they happen to be successful in their claims in court, and there's nothing in law to prevent them doing so, so fuckin' sickening

The £20,000 Must be investigated.

Dunno where there's any mileage in investigating legal aid. Many of the worst of scum are given it, not just this one. It's the definition of a necessary evil.

How did he manage to get legal aid though? I was under the impression that he was a wealthy bastard, or can everyone get legal aid no matter the size of their bank account.

Pass. Presume he went through the same application processes as everyone else though.

The fair trial to get the creature behind bars is the important thing.
