Agree with this, saw a thing about Chinese Leicester supporters after they won the pl and there was fuckin thousands of them. Compare our history to Leicesters and what you are saying is correct.

Yeah they go crazy for the Premier League and hats off to them at how they have marketed it. If only Scottish football had done more in the late 80's into the 90's to lay better foundations.

I stayed at a hotel at Newcastle airport and there were 3 bus loads of Asians that had been to Manchester and by the looks of had bought everything in the shop! Minimum of 3 bags each.

Between 1930 and 1965 th top two would have been Rangers and Arsenal.

It was only in the late sixties that Liverpool, Man United and cellic really started to establish themselves with Busby, Shankly and BJK.

United were big in the mid 50s with the Busby Babes (before Munich), Arsenals dominance was fading from the start of the 50's, they were much more a pre-war force. Wolves and United were the teams of that decade.

United led the way into Europe for English clubs, which raised their profile way beyond Arsenals.

And George Best thencame along and had a huge media influence which pushed up their profile.

Not sure if it matters who is the biggest anyway. Couldn't give a shit. Manchester United are one of the biggest in the world and couldn't finish top 4.

I'm sure Newcastle are easily in the top 20 or so European clubs too, based on revenue and fan-base, but can't even stay in the top division.

I know, love when they say they are the first British club to win the champions league. Then deny being british ?

I suppose mental illness amongst over things is the risk you take with inbreeding

It's probably impossible to count them all up but I reckon in the U.K alone we've got close to a million supporters. The taigs will never come close to that in Britain

A survey by an English University in 2006 had in terms of UK only supporters::

Man Utd  4.3 million

Liverpool 3.2M

Arsenal 2.3M

Rangers 1.5M

Them 1.4M

Chelsea 1.4M

Big influx from the EU since then, many of whom will align with the scum.

The Munich crash did wonders for increasing Utd's support outwith their obvious catchment area.

Folk were sympathetic & have since fathered generations who have followed the same path.

It had an effect but it was happening before that. It was a complete change of philosophy to bring in that many young players. Entering European competition was a game changer. Duncan Edwards was a star before his untimely death.

Obviously Munich had an effect but its a myth that the support was only local prior to that.

The crash actually delayed the clubs rise as they would have been European Cup winners within a couple of years and, theres a good chance England would have been closer to winning the World Cup in 1958.

If it was just the crash then why aren't Torino the biggest club in Italy.

Back on to the main point, I think its quite clear that Rangers are the biggest supported club in Scotland and have a fan base bigger than almost any club in the UK.

What has happened is that the bheasts manipulate the media so much more effectively than we ever have and so become a lot of peoples 'second team'. Thats compounded when you see their ex-players employed by broadcasters further promoting them.

Other than Neil McCann there hasn't really been a positive voice for Rangers at that level.

@welovebettinguk

The timmigrant club should be counted out as they are not British.
