A good post.   A great reminder of what I would say was a proper Rangers player.  I enjoyed watching him play.    Wish we had more players with his ability, attitude and commitment on the pitch today.

Yup, Proper Player, Proper Legend and his attitude is what Rangers were built on!

Big Tam (and Alex MacDonald) are my favourite ever players.

One of his finest moments is this tackle at 7.46 in the final minutes of the Scotland-England game which held our 2-1 lead. The defensive pairing of Big Tam Forsyth and Colin Jackson were magnificent that day.

And the Rangers End sang !

Docherty, Docherty shut yer mooth
Docherty, shut your mooth.
Docherty, Docherty shut yer mooth
Docherty, shut your mooth.

That was the only England game I ever got to attend.  Second best ever game I've been at for pure joy of the result.   But not a patch on beating timmy in 1977 when we were 0-2 down at half time.

Was at Hampdump when he scored his first ever goal for us against septic with his studs from all of 3 inches, he, the team and all us at our end went crazy.  A great player who teamed up with Tommy McLean as he lived in Stonehouse and wee tam was in Ashgill I think and they used to travel together to training and Ibrox.  Loved it when an opponent hit wee tommy, and big Tam would get him back later with the crowd giving it  woohohoh up till TF hit the guy, to a great big cheer, great days and a great servant.

Happy birthday Tam :UK::dance::bow:
