Covid vaccination ,can the players get it ASAP

Pointless waste of money.

It looks like forfeits are for clubs that breach COVID protocols through wilfully neglecting the protocols themselves. Even with a vaccine, clubs for a time are still likely to have to adhere to protocols as the vaccine does not stop you from getting COVID.

As long as we continue to adhere to protocols and try our absolute best to mitigate any potential breaches through individual player actions then we will be fine.

Is it possible to aquire the vaccine privately and if so would it be prudent to preserve the squads health?Especially as the league look find of forfeits .

No it isn't possible at this stage. There are extremely vulnerable people who are way higher on the priority list than the squad. Many Rangers fans will be in these groups and they have much greater need for the current vaccine supplies.

Once the vaccine is more widely available to the general population then they can get the vaccine but definitely not at the expense of those in greatest need.

Castore have bought 2000 doses from Turkey and it will be available for a bargain £149.99 a jab at Rangers Town.

It will only work for 6 weeks though!

"None of the trials currently under way are designed to detect a reduction in any serious outcome such as hospital admissions, use of intensive care, or deaths….Nor are the vaccines being studied to determine whether they can interrupt transmission of the virus."

For the Pfizer one, it reduces the changes of getting Covid-19 (the disease) by about 95%.

This is obviously a different statement from saying it stops SARS-COV-2 (the virus) entering the body.

Covid-19 is the disease, and it is probably incorrect to say that someone who is infected asymptomatically has Covid-19 as they have no symptoms.

Regardless, you cant buy the vaccine privately, it is all going on a priority basis through the NHS.

Then what’s the point in a vaccine, If it doesn’t prevent you from getting it?

surely the flu jab (vaccine) that we already have stops you from getting flu (normal flu)?

Or am I just thick as fuck?

Of course it can stop you getting it.

The flu vaccine can also stop you getting the flu. There are loads of different flu viruses though, so sometimes the flu vaccine is aimed at the wrong versions and folk can still catch it.

Obviously they are not 100% effective, so you cant say it will 'certainly stop you getting it' but it will most likely stop you getting it.

No it doesn't, it prevents the infection establishing or progressing by enabling an immune response which will fight infection and reduce/nullify symptoms. The Flu vaccine is protective, specifically, against certain strains and may reduce symptoms from other strains, you can still 'get the flu' even if vaccinated. Its entirely different to the Covid vaccines as they are specific for the single virus.

There are a number of strategies the various covid vaccines are using to protect.

This is from a Sky news article.

'The Oxford vaccine works like a traditional inoculation where a spike protein of the virus is injected which the immune system builds up a response to if the real virus enters the body.

Both the Pfizer and Moderna jabs use technology known as mRNA, which introduces into the body a messenger sequence that contains the genetic instructions for the vaccinated person's own cells to produce the antigens and generate an immune response.'

That is basically saying it stops you getting the flu.

It does not stop an influenza virus entering your body and trying to get established, but it stops the progress of this infection which stops you developing the flu (a disease).

There are numerous flu viruses. The flu injection is changed every year to target the most prelevant strains in circulation. So it doesn't stop every strain of the flu.

There is only one strain of Covid 19 so far.

Anyhow, football players will be bottom of the list for the vaccine as they aren't old, don't tend to have underlying health problems and you can't buy it unless you are a government thus far.
