The league will be done by January with that strategy. We were poor before the January window, otherwise the league would have been done.

Realistically (and people won’t want to hear this), we aren’t going to overtake them with one summer of recruitment. Even if we get everything right, it’s extremely unlikely based on the budgets we’ll have compared to theirs due to guaranteed CL football for them.

They’ve lost 1 league game in 18 months, so they aren’t going to start dropping points every other week and let us build a lead before Xmas. But what we can do is strengthen so we’re within touching distance, compared to this year where the league was done by November.

Do that and we give ourself another window to close the gap and then it’s a a sprint to the finish line over the last 5 months of the season. That’s what they did in 21/22, they boxed clever and kept close enough to us, then used January to turn the tables.

Absolutely criminal if we dont sell borna on the last year of his contract after the morelos/kent situation.

For what transfer fee we would get for Borna we may keep as a back up, can’t see us getting more than a million for him.

jack on his day is a great player to have, the only issue is he's to injury prone and still plays for scotland, as for scotty, he's the only midfielder who's willing to break his neck to get in the box while others just dilly dally about outside it, with that being said he's a good impact player to have coming off the bench however most of the games he's started he's been shit.

as far as i'm concerned they can all fuck off at the end of the season bar goldson, raskin and cantwell.

If we consistently beat the dross as we have under Beale then of course we will be within touching distance, it’s all coming down to the head to heads next season.

Have to factor in his wage too.

If he's a back up that's a very expensive one.

Aye ideally we move him on but think that depends on what the club plan to do with Yilmaz, can’t see us selling both left backs.

“On his day”

“If he gets fit”

“Injury woes over”

Take any of them and apply that to about 10 of our current players, it’s brutal to think anybody out of contract stays.

Promote someone from the youth team to cover the Scottish quota in Europe. At least they’ll be fit and on the bench instead of literally making up the numbers in Jacks case

He’s played over 30 games this season?

How many of them is he actually match fit though.

It’s like Roofe, they come back, after 3-4 games do something and you think brilliant, they look good and next thing you know they’re injured again and back to the start of cycle.

Not sure how Ryan Jack, 31 and injury prone is seen as someone who can be drafted in periodically as a back up player.

Colak was lethal up until the World Cup. Beale ignored this and instead thought he could get Morelos playing again. He couldn't. Colak had to sit and watch Morelos apply remarkable indifference to every performance this year, and still not get dropped. No surprise he wants away. Beale called this one badly wrong.

I am sure Colak was injured and Alfie was willing to play through an injury, paraphrasing Beale’s words wrt Alfie at that time.

He said alfie was playing through an injury that nobody else would iirc

With the turnover of players required we are going to need players like Jack who know the club and are leaders, he’ll be a very decent squad option and good influence in dressing room, id much rather have Jack than shitebags like Borna and Ben Davies around next season, we can’t replace a full squad in one go

Borna will be 31 later this year so its a different situation from letting the contract run down on players who should be in their prime and wanted by other clubs.

Nope, he’s got to go now. Even if we got half a million for him, he’s got to go.

Players running down their contract has to stop.

How many players do we sign on free transfers? it’s a part of football, big difference Borna doing it to sellable assets like Kent and Morelos.

He needs to bin that rabble to prolong his club career.

Agreed. I'm critical off his absences but was surprised to see he did have 35 appearances.

Pretty sure he'll get another year, if he does then quitting Scotland should be part of the deal.

The writing was on wall for him when he got dropped for a half arsed Alfie.

Who Beale also played on the right to accommodate Sakala through the middle.

Colak had a calf injury Beale and our super medical team rushed him back and now he's out with the same injury.

Btw one of jack, davis, arfield were always going to be offered a new deal, same way some of the “shite” squad players won’t leave, there will not be a cull of everyone fans don’t like, it’s just not going to happen.

i played champ manager back in the day and in one window would change over a whole squad but it does seem like many view it that way and as simplistic as that.

You do need some form of continuity, but if jack or davis or arfield were to stay around the squad whilst others were added i don’t think I’ll get too upset.

we won’t fix every single issue we have between June and September

It’s nauseating reading the same stuff every day mate.

People want every single player gone in one window and they seem to think that’s what the filth did when they overhauled their squad, but Fat Ange laid the groundwork in the first window and then tweaked it more in the second one.

During that first season under him, particularly in the first half, they were still having to use guys who were going to be squad players, or guys who had no long term future, like Welsh, Ajeti, Soro, Shaw, Biton & Turnbull. It was only once he got that second window and he added O’Reilly, Hatate &  Maeda that his squad and tbh his playing style fully started to take shape and start working.

We will get the core of the team signed this Summer, no doubt about it, but there’s definitely going to be another six months where we are going to have to continue using players who don’t have a long term future here too.

Advocaat done a massive overhaul but still used players who were here that didn’t last very long once he got what he wanted in

Can add Bain, Ralston and Forest to that, it’s just not possible to rebuild a full squad in one window even the tarriers who did a huge rebuild probably bigger than we will retained about 10 for the squad.

So that's now at least 5 attackers we have to buy. And they all have to be able to contribute. And another midfielder who can play at least 30 games cause that's probably how many Jack will miss. But he'll declare for Scotland no bother. I don't think Colak should leave but why would he want to stay when he's scored goals then been dropped for Morelos and Beale hasn't even attempted to work a system for him when he was fit.

The worry is if we drop the same number of points as they did while the new team was gelling then that mob will be out of sight, need to get our business done early to give us best chance.

Don't mind keeping jack and arfield on heavily reduced wages/roles, with davis, kamara, lundstrum & hagi going, and bringing in a quality midfielder, we would still be saving a huge chunk of wages
